The Almseed Order

The Almseed Order was a sacred order of Artificers, Wizards, and Druids who existed during the time of the Kaisalis Empire, and were masters of nearly any and all craft, application, or skill. The Druids would command the weather to grow crops, manipulate and create new and fruitful plantlife, and force storms to pass over harmlessly, the Wizards would research, control, and experiment with the pure arcane energies of the Weave and creatures naturally attuned to it, and the Artificers would work tirelessly to learn ways to manifest these gifts into items so that those who were not innately attuned to the natural or arcane forces could still benefit from their use.   The Almseed order is identified by their minimalist symbol of a trio of hands, each holding a different icon based on their subsection. The Almseed Wizards held a triangle or lightning bolt, the Artificers held a square or an ingot, and the Druids held a circle or a bushel of wheat.

Structure

  • Grand Artisan: This was the headmaster of the Almseed Order's Artisan branch, master builder and creature of technology, magical items, and avenues of naturalistic and arcane integration. While partnered with the Wizarding branch, these two gave birth to the first variously different Warforged: the Soulcored who were mortal souls infused into metal bodies, the Stormcored who were Elementals bound to metal bodies whilst also being given accelerated intellect, and the Berthcored who were simple automatons given menial intellect or single-minded tasks such as farming, warring, serving, and so on. The Last Grand Artisan was Emileus Storiandr.
  • Grand Arcanist: This was the headmaster of the Almseed Order's Wizardry and Arcane Research branch, dedicated to mastering the weave-borne power of arcane magic and classifying it into an organized fashion. These often were at the head of both societal innovation as well as times of war. The Last Grand Arcanist was Azalin Rex.
  • Grand Villein: This was the headmaster of the Almseed Order's Druidicsand Natural Cultivation Research branch, dedicated to mastering the powers of druidic magic and manipulation of the natural world. While they often headed the faculties that provided essential resources like stone for architecture, ores, and metal for magical items and engines, and agriculture for food, they were often passed over and even looked down upon at certain times by their superiors. Most Druids tended to the Terrestrial settlements of Kaisalis, and thusly were the first targets and victims of the Alltakers' terror. The Last Grand Villein was Suvis Liatar.

History

  • The Founding: The Order of Almsheed was founded on Kaisilian belief that we all have the potential to make great things in life, and the ability to command both our destiny and the forces around us. This organization was tasked with stoking that belief, extracting the fruits of such labor and dedication, and using it for the greater good of the Empire. They produced the greatest archmagi, druidic masters, and artisans the world has ever seen, building floating cities, developing magics still used and studied to this day, and expanding the empire far and wide to a multi-planar reach.
  • The Taking: The Order of Almsheed found itself destroyed by the forces of the gods they disdained, specifically the combined efforts of the gods Torog and Tharizdun, despite the two never actually formally aligning or even having the specific goal of doing so. Torog's followers saw the floating, glistening cities of the empire as an affront to the natural world, an attempt to forget and evolve beyond what mortals truly were: mortal. Thusly, with the guidance of Torog, the King of All Under, they worked to cause these cities to crash and sink into the very earth itself, where the Crawling King could use his dark magic and manipulations to sap the people of their wills and sanity. Tharizdun came next in the event known as the First Consumption, where he and his Daemon followers roved over the earth devouring the souls, minds, bodies, and pure matter of any and all things in a bid to destroy the world. While the gods may have aligned and stopped his plot, thousands of civilizations and gods were lost in the battle, Kaisalis being the greatest of that casualty. The Order of Almseed died with the Empire, and while many still hold its ideals, there has never been such a level of a unified effort to stoke progress like those of the past.
