The Keeper
The Keeper is the highest-ranking position within the Conclave of the Keepers, as outlined in The Arcane Accord. This office is primarily characterized by its executive function within the Conclave's administrative structure. Elected by the Council of Masters, the Keeper serves as the primary decision-making figure and oversees the day-to-day administration of the Conclave. The Keeper's term aligns with the five-year electoral cycle of the Conclave, ensuring synchronicity with the council's other administrative roles. Notably, the Keeper is empowered to act unilaterally in daily administrative tasks, reflecting the significant authority vested in this role.
Eligibility for the office of the Keeper is open to all current archmages within the Council of Masters. This selection process commences with a secret ballot procedure, where each council member deposits tokens bearing the sigils of their preferred candidates into a warded chest, which ensures the confidentiality and security of the electoral process. Upon tallying the tokens, the candidate with the most votes assumes the position of Keeper. In the event of a tie, runoff elections are conducted until a singular candidate emerges victorious.
The duties of the Keeper include setting the Conclave's organizational goals, hearing members' concerns and suggestions, interpreting the Arcane Accord, and making decisions on matters not specifically covered by the Accord. The Keeper's role in shaping the Conclave's policies and practices is pivotal, requiring the individual to possess exemplary skills in leadership, decision-making, and comprehensive understanding of the Arcane Accord and its applications.
