Bladesinger

Linnathel

During the reign of the Areian Nations in the mythical past, the Nations were protected by the elite Elf warriors known as Linnathel, what sometimes call fighter-mages, or Bladesingers in the modern day. These elite fighters mastered their prowess in Magic based skills alongside their talents in the martial talents, combining the two into a lethal art. They were the stuff of ancient legend even to the people of the Heroic Era. Tale from the era speak of single Bladesingers besting entire armies. The tradition remained in elven cultures throughout history, all the way into today. Bladesingers are still the guardians of elven communities.

Modern Bladesingers fall more into the magical arts than the martial, at least compared to their ancient counterparts. That does not mean they are any less lethal on the battlefield, however. These warriors incorporate the bladesinging martial training into their wizarding studies, making them just as deadly of an opponent in a melee fight as a Casting battle. Unlike other wizarding arts, there are no Bladesinging colleges. Most Bladesingers learn from a master in a one-on-one status. However, there are many elven communities that have small schools known as Mensanga that teach how to incorporate these martial arts into the practitioner's wizarding arts.

Bladesinger are almost always elves. It is an elven tradition that the people take pride in. That said, there are stories of the rare Human that has earned the trust of elven communities and being taught this martial art.
