Kelhruna
A Kelhruna (meaning “broken mandrake”) is the term used for Aliruna who achieve this form through a violent ritual perpetrated by the Resurrectionists. It involves being vivisected and the removal of a rib, before being buried while still alive. Often it involves human sacrifice, but it must be a condemned criminal. It is a ritual which seems to prevent the parasite from violently overtaking the body.
The survival rate of someone who is infected by Forest Rot is about 50% for the first month and this drops significantly over times. The survival rate for a Kelhruna seems to be much higher at 60%, and furthermore 75% for those where a human sacrifice is used.
