Westumbria
Westumbria is one of the duchies of Albion. It on the western coast of the isle, comprising the majority of the outcrop at the southern part of Albion. The duchy is charachtarized by the river Ouse, whose tributaries comprise the majority of the land. It is a relatively flat area, however the coast is quite rough from the exposure to the ocean.
History
Westumbria is the second oldest continuous duchy is Albion. The current duke is the 83rd, and the first duke donned his caronet 2142 years ago, in 4993 of the Second Age
Demography and Population
Westumbria has around 600000 people. However, it has the third highest non-human population of the duchies of albion. It has a signifigant population of elves and halflings, as well as a not insignifigant population of gnomes. There is also a small dragonborn community in the area. However, this is still a minority, non-humans make up around 240000 of the population. The duke is a human (actually, they have some elf ancestry on their mothers side), and he does an ok job of keeping the races friendly. However, as everywhere, there is a degree of seperation. The elves live mostly in the forests on the border with Herulia and Suthalbia. The halflings, like normal, just live around. The gnomes live mostly in the hilly land to the extreme west of the duchy. Humans live everywhere.
Territories
It controls all land to the west of the river Great Ouse. The river Great Ouse is defined as taking the tributary to the south at the confluence of the Ouse, where the Little Ouse meets with the Great Ouse. Of course, the Little Ouse is larger than the Great Ouse, but that was unknown when they named it. The border continues along the Great Ouse until it reaches the border with Suthalbia. There, it follows mostly a tributary Dee, along with just random lines based on existing boundaries.
Military
The duke of Westumbria has access force of around 450. Of these, 75 are the personal retainer of the duke himself, with the others being tribute from the various counts and marquees.
Foreign Relations
They have a good relationship with Fosia. Its relationship with Herulia is quite tense, though reasonably friendly. Suthalbia is actually quite friendly, they trade heavily in food and trade goods.
