Caulderon
The kingdom of Caulderon was founded at the end of the Thestian Wars by an ancestor of King Rinidar. The large size of the kingdom necessitates the use of Regencies, or smaller states within governed by lesser rulers. Caulderon is the most powerful kingdom in the southern region, its nearest rival being the goblin kingdom of Thar to the far northeast. King Rinidar rules over this diverse kingdom which can be as cosmopolitan as its landscapes are varied. The various regencies, are ruled by lords who answer to King Rinidar’s rule. Caulderon is allies with the various kingdoms who share its borders and is the sworn enemy of Thar. Trade routes are also established with nearly every civilized kingdom on the planet including with the kingdoms in the far northeast and northwest as well as the great kingdom of the eastern continent.
You will come to find that most any place in the kingdom of Caulderon accepts coins as trade for weapons, goods, or service. There are other forms of wealth, however. Property is a prized
commodity in the kingdom. Gems too are readily accepted, but may differ in their value from person to person. Gems and bars of precious metal are often found to be the best way to store
your character’s holdings. Caulderon, unlike some other kingdoms has personal banks in some of the larger cities. These banks act similarly to modern banks, but never give loans. Your character can make deposits and withdrawals and even change out for a higher or lower denomination of currency. Few banks, however, will trade their gems for character’s money.
There are four types of common coins in Caulderon, copper pieces, silver pieces, gold pieces, and platinum pieces. There is a fifth type of coin, but is much more rare than other types of coins. These coins are called Asmonite pieces or Asmonite Fire Eyes . These coins are made from the precious metal asmonite. This metal combust upon contact with air thus making trade in them difficult for anyone without proper equipment.
