Grimrr Halfpaw
King Grimrr Halfpaw (a.k.a. Lord of the Lonely Places, Ruler of the Night Reaches, He Who Walks Alone)
He was appointed by the werecats to be their king during the
Rider War, for even werecats need a leader when they march to war. He offered the Varden the help of the werecats as Galbatorix had finally shown his weakness; he wouldn't kill Saphira.
Trivia
One of his titles, "He Who Walks Alone", refers to Rudyard Kipling's "The Cat Who Walked By Himself", where: "He will kill mice, and he will be kind to babies when he is in the house, just as long as they do not pull his tail too hard. But when he has done that, and between times, and when the moon gets up and night comes, he is the Cat that walks by himself, and all places are alike to him. Then he goes out to the Wet Wild Woods or up the Wet Wild Trees or on the Wet Wild Roofs, waving his wild tail and walking by his wild lone."

Personal history
During his meeting with the Varden, where he made the alliance, he displayed an obvious dislike of
Angela the Herbalist. When Nasuada stated that she would have to have his mind examined to determine whether the werecats were a threat, he agreed but demanded that under no circumstance should Angela be the one to do so. This was because of a spell Angela had previously placed on him - he could utter nothing but birdsong for over a week ("cheep-cheep").
Accomplishments & Achievements
Treaty with the Varden
In exchange for the werecats' services, he negotiated with Nasuada for each werecat in his army to receive armour for one of their two forms, a dagger, a bird every day and every other day a bowl of liver. As part of the deal, when Galbatorix was overthrown regardless of who took his place, a padded cushion would be places beside the throne as a place of honour for any werecat to rest upon, should one wish to be present: the first werecat to take this place was
Yelloweyes.
