Al Muhar
Al Muhar (each island is about 8 miles across. Built very vertically. Saying this could help players visualize how filled it is)
First level is a port, accessible by water but it’s completely filthy, much waste ends up in the waters around the city and the people that end up living on its lowest level often are poverty stricken or in some near slavery deal of debt to someone and working it off in around the area or in the refineries and forges. The buildings here aren’t as much buildings as hovels, carved into the rock with dim lit candles and very few luminescent stones the area is packed with people and the port is almost always full, people jamming into the cargo elevators in the rush hours by the thousands to get to higher levels for work or trade as the trains that go up are a bit harder to get onto thanks to the price. As people go further into the first level and under the surface level into the basement they find the area called the Dragonden. It’s called that because supposedly when the island was on its own and not combined with the other 3 it was home to a dragon. It is a massive cave, with buildings protruding like stalactites and stalagmites and home to the dwarves and other underground races for comfort, in comparison to the levels above on the surface level it’s got its own weird economic system and split of poverty and wealth not like the rest of the city. This is also where the finest brothel and tavern for hard liquor is in the city but it’s easy to get lost in the Dragonden, and dangerous since Al Muhar is accepting of all peoples, there are underdark races here.
Second level has the gladiator arena and the restaurant Kraak’na’kesh which translate from dragonborn into roughly “to eat the flesh of enemies” but with more cultural nuances that make that a not literal translation more like an approximate one, it gives off a pale light from and has a red neon sign that makes it stand out, people there are generally not too welcoming to the “untested”. Zuulhas (deep voice) is the owner of this restaurant/bar. The buildings here are also carved out of stone but not as crudely as to just make space, they are like petra. Beautiful structures with carved statues and styled mediterranean pillars and inlays on the stone. The older buildings that have been owned by one group or family show a visual history around the edges, the colosseum has these carvings all over, with much blank stone left to fill in showing brutal and legendary fights or mosaics of champions, in front at the entrance to the colosseum is a statue of Awasi Oku, the god of the crossroads, hand extended and smiling inviting patrons in.
Also the second level is largely a market district with many many banks and stores, also all the guild halls and HQ’s for guilds are located in this city on this level. The weapons and armors shop that is on the second level is owned by a Giff (Hippoman in a uniform growling deep voice as possible, stern but fun) it’s basically an armory and he also provides the city guard with their weapons. His rank among the Giff is major colonel named Quebor. The shops name is Arms and Armor, its basic and he really couldn’t give a shit he’s renowned for his products not his name. He also sells firearms.
The third level is open to the sky, unlike the rest of the levels, here is the palace of Awasi Oku and his offspring over the last 1000 years, a large part of this is dedicated to nobility and the incredibly rich, nobility here can be bought, sold and lost depending on the amount you have. Nobility isn’t as much a thing for the blue blooded as much as it is for material wealth. Save the royal family which is run by a king who is mostly in a role of being a swing voter in the aristocracy and among his nobility that run the city. The people generally like him and so do the nobility since he is considerate and not a tyrant. He also has a sister who helps him. On the third level is a recruitment center for the Air Guard, which are basically space marines in fantasy, badasses that use the militaries flying ships and zeppelin navy to keep routes safe from pirates, they also have a wyvern guard and other aerial things. There are shops on the 3rd level but not as many as the second and much pricier without being much better. Mostly just the price is to keep the general populace from going there and bothering the nobles.
The fourth island is somewhat disconnected. Purple arcane beams hold it to the third island. It is a massive fort, and is much smaller in size in comparison to the other islands, it’s about 2 miles in size with massive thick walls and a keep, this is where the Air Guard train and the military port is. This is also where the military RnD is done.
