Arcadia

Arcadia is the capital of the Holy Illuminated Exeter Empire. It is also the largest city in the Empire. It is located on the eastern coast of the continent of Exedilica.

Demographics

Approximately half of the population of Arcadia is Human. Another quarter of the population are Elves, and the remainder is composed of various Halflings, Dwarves, and Gnomes. The majority of the population is ethnically Stravidic, with significant Justik and Xothic minorities.
Arcadia is the religious and civic center of the Empire, and about a third of the population is involved in the Church of the Sun Faith, the imperial government, or both. Approximately another third is composed of tradesmen of various types. The remaining third includes service workers, professionals, and the city guard.
Due to the socialist nature of the Empire, most of the population lives comfortably but not extravagantly. Food, shelter, and a basic education is available to all regardless of profession or status. High ranking government officials and clergy may have large accommodations or finer clothing than commoners, but the wealth gap is not extreme.

Government

Because Arcadia is the seat of the Empire, the Emperor exerts more direct control than in other cities throughout Exeter. The Emperor serves as the exarch for the city and the surrounding regions.
