The Underdark

Beneath the sunless crust of the realm of Amoxis lies The Underdark, a vast subterranean world of echoing black caverns, phosphorescent fungi, and ancient ruins untouched by daylight. The Underdark is not merely a place, but a living myth — a network of hollowed-out worlds, each deeper and more treacherous than the last. Its tunnels twist like the roots of a dead God, descending into realms where the sane dare not tread.

The upper layers swarm with exiled surface races, rogue mages, and dark-furred Beastfolk, who carve out war-torn enclaves among glimmering crystal outcroppings and fungal jungles. But deeper still lie the Cities of Silence, where civilizations long abandoned by the gods thrive in eternal shadow. Here, the language is psionic, and the laws are written in blood and stone.

The underdark is home to strange powers — sentient ores that whisper, forgotten titans entombed in stone, and aberrations birthed from the thoughts of dreaming leviathans. Great houses of Drow, deep gnomes, and other ancient races wage secret wars over soulsteel mines and memory wells, all while unknowable horrors stir beneath them.

Worship in the underdark is a blasphemy of its own kind. Cults to sleeping Elder Beings, dark stars, and the hungry void flourish in temples made of bone and madness. It is whispered that entire cities vanish overnight, taken by the Weeping Hollow, a sentient chasm said to swallow regret itself.

And yet, for all its horrors, the Underdark is also a place of great arcane potential and forbidden knowledge — a siren’s song to warlocks, alchemists, and prophets alike. But every secret has its cost, and in the underdark, the price is often your mind, your soul, or your name.
