Spooktober Prompt: Enchant
In the Kingdom of Hazar, there are a number of spells within the school of enchantment that have been deemed illegal for common use. Some of the few people issued licenses to cast such spells are correctional enchanters. Only called in when someone has been found guilty of a crime, the enchanter is permitted to use one or two of a handful of enchantment spells in order to ensure that the individual found guilty is in fact guilty. Allowed spells include: charm person, suggestion, zone of truth, fast friends, and dominate person.
In order to prevent the system from being abused, correctional enchanters are not called in for every guilty verdict. Were that the case, it is believed that guilty verdicts would rapidly become the norm so that they could all be reviewed by the enchanter. Instead, enchanters are brought in at random in order to ensure there is still an appropriate degree of pressure to hand down an accurate verdict.
