Carab Blooming Season

Carab berry shrubs in the Allathonéan city of Cenodorran typically bloom in the final days of winter, lasting for just two short weeks. When their pale yellow flowers first come into bloom, they are often abuzz with busy bees, diligently working to create the monofloral honey which is one of Cenodorran's most popular exports, and it is after the bees have finished their pollinating that citizens and tourist begin to enjoy the blooms as well.
Carab blossom divination has gained a small but dedicated cult following in and around Cenodorran. While there are a number of methods by which it may be performed, the most common is that an individual will trim a small sprig off of a carab shrub, usually at least a week after it has bloomed so that the blossoms are still intact, but not firmly so. They will bring this sprig to the diviner, who will provide them with a large dish, over which they will shake the sprig in a single firm, downward motion. The diviner will they perform a reading based on the number of petals which fall into the dish and the location in which they fall.
People will also often hang thin nets below carab shrubs on their property, collecting some of the blossoms as they begin to fall and saving them either for pressing, making into perfume, or for drying and grinding down into a natural pigment to use in paint. The perfume is known for its light, herbaceous scent, and the paint the petals make is typically a light taupe color.
