Where the elemental planes blur together, they form demiplanes which combine the two absolute influences. These demiplanes are called dualities.
The Pale Waste
The Duality of Ice lies between the planes of
Air and
Water. Here, the racing winds of the Aerosphere rip the heat from the waters of the Eternal Sea to create a great expanse of pack ice.
The Clutching Bog
The Duality of Mud joins the planes of Water and
Earth. The two elements mix in a domain of quicksands and shifting saltmarsh which clutch and pull and devour the unwary.
The Basalt Delta
In the Duality of Magma, the planes of Earth and
Fire meet. Stone, metal and gems alike melt, flow and resolidify into a landscape of folded basalt and slow, magma rivers.
The Ashen Plane
The Duality of Smoke bounds the planes of Fire and Air. It is a desolate landscape, swathed in roiling smoke and sulphurous clouds, where thick layers of cloying ash rise at the slightest disturbance in hot, choking dust devils.
