Divine Beasts

The Divine Beasts are ancient surviving Titans of bestial form and godlike power. Once, there might have been many of them, but only three have been seen at all in recent history. Despite their size, their current whereabouts are not recorded, and it is imposible to use divinitory practices to locate them or predict their actions.   The Phoenix is a Titan of the Fire, shaped by the elders of its kind to be the ultimate sword of Titanis; the first weapon of mass destruction created on Aiaos. It is said to be indestructible, for its existence is circular, its end containing its beginning and the extremes of its circular existence meeting in an inferno of unmatched ferocity. It is said to slumber somewhere in the Spark of Amuna, waiting for whatever event might prompt it to take wing once more, filling the skies with fire and death.   The last Divine Beast of the Waters is called by some the ur-Kraken, although descriptions of its vastness rarely align with the form of a true kraken. Some suggest that it may, rther, be a great shark, a whale, or a serpent that encircles the World. Others say that a Titan of the Water would surely have a form as changeable as the waves. Sailors call it Isilram, a Seafolk term meaning 'wandering island.' These tales speak of craggy shores and forested inlands, all of which will be carried beneath the waves at a moment's notice.   The true nature of the final divine beast - if any beasts of the air survived, they were burned down by the flight of the Phoenix - is much debated. It is called a Titan of the Earth and named Firmaran, Beast of Geronetes, the Imperatosaur and Tarrasque. It is described as vastest of dinosaurs, sometimes bipedal, others quadrupedal. Stories speak of a spined back surging out of the waves, or of claws and teeth that rend mountains, and breath that turns the world to fire. Somehow, despite its vastness, the Tarrasque remains elusive; oft-spoken of, but rarely seen.
