Rasp
(a.k.a. Raspberry)
Developments - Act I
Developments - Act II
He could once have been called a "bulezau," a sickly goatlike demon who showed up to infest Faultpike. He claimed to be the strongest of his fellow demons, but he was soon struck down by one of Faultpike's other strange visitors: Drulsh, a happy-go-lucky hulk like Otaine, but much bigger and as bright blue as a dart frog.
Rasp was an agent of pestilence, but Drulsh was even better: one scratch from his claws implanted a strain of devious magic that turned its victim inside out--almost literally, from the way it looks--and transformed them into a red slaad. Rasp was an extraordinary host: the transformation usually takes about a day to complete, but for the bubbly demon, it took scarcely a minute.
Drulsh thought he had killed the thing, but instead of falling, Rasp grew. Drulsh's claws got stuck inside as Rasp boiled up to twice his size, strength, and stubbornness. He acquired a new set of claws, and in a sudden powerful instinct, Rasp tore the head off his creator.
Rasp went on to lead the demons of Faultpike. The fiends keep close to him, since he's the only one who can single-handedly kill the slaadi who try to hunt them.
Rasp the demon-slaad is a different person than Rasp the demon. This could be a problem for him--because he isn't 100 percent demon, he can't guarantee that he has the "pure evil" that other demons find so freeing. Even the slight possibility that he could be a good person is deeply embarrassing, and Rasp performs increasingly vile acts to hide his childish insecurity. Using his nickname "Raspberry"--because he's red and lumpy, see--is an easy way to annoy him.
Olsik isn't too fond of Raspberry. He seems to be taking her place as the villain of Faultpike, and he doesn't take nearly as much joy in the work. Convincing Rasp to stop being evil is too silly an idea even for the slaadi, but Olsik is totally behind it, if only to get him out of the picture.
