Goblinoid

Goblinoids are the most common people in Agrophon who are vastly distinct from earthlies. They likely evolved with help from the zealous dynamics of the Feywild, which crafted the motley crew of goblins, hobgoblins, and bugbears.   Most goblinoids haven't lived in the Feywild since the first century; it isn't a kind place to live, and their communities only survived by multiplying faster than they died out. They've moved almost entirely to the material plane, though the oldest goblinoid families still make their homes near Agrophon's green gates.

First contact

Goblinoids officially made it to Agrophon in year 36, but they lived tangential to the earthlies for hundreds of years. The two worlds crossed at various times and places, and reports of each other's existence bled into the folklore of the Material Plane. Many goblinoid surnames became words for legendary monsters, whom people claimed to see lurking outside civilization. Conversely, some goblinoid communities adopted the names of fictional humanoids from around the world.   Goblins might take their family names from diminutive humanoids in folklore. Likewise, hobgoblins might take their names from tall humanoids, and bugbears from gigantesque humanoids. These names are commonly used even in the present day, celebrating both the dignity and the mystique of these ancient communities.
