Akl-Abanoub IV Suten-Amen
Pharoah
Pharaoh Akl-Abanoub IV Suten-Amen
Age: 13
Title: Pharaoh of Kemet, Co-Ruler
Dynasty: Suten-Amen Dynasty
Class: Paladin
Subclass: Oath of Glory (Paladin of Re-Horakhty)
Spouse: Pharaoh Auset I Suten-Amen (co-ruler, arranged marriage)
Divine Affiliation: Re-Horakhty (Ra-Horus in his solar aspect)
Appearance
Akl-Abanoub IV is a slender, wiry youth with an aristocratic bearing that belies his age. His skin is a deep sun-bronzed brown, kissed by the desert sun, and his features are fine-boned, with high cheekbones, a strong jawline, and a straight, noble nose. His dark eyes, sharp and discerning, hold the weight of expectations far beyond his years.
Rather than the traditional shaved head of Pharaohs, he wears his black hair in short, tightly curled locks, adorned with a golden diadem shaped in the likeness of a falcon, a symbol of Re-Horakhty’s favor. Gold leaf markings trace the contours of his face, a ceremonial adornment that enhances his regal presence.
His ceremonial collar is a wide pectoral of inlaid lapis lazuli, turquoise, and gold, cascading over his shoulders in the traditional broad style of royalty. Gold bands encircle his upper arms, engraved with sacred glyphs, and his lower body is draped in a richly decorated shendyt, the fabric pleated and bordered in blue and gold. The weight of kingship sits heavily upon his slight frame, but he carries it with the practiced grace of one who knows he must.
Personality and Beliefs
Akl-Abanoub IV sees the world in absolutes—right and wrong, divine will and mortal duty, truth and lies. Raised on the scriptures of Re-Horakhty, he believes the Pharaoh is both the gods’ chosen and their earthly instrument. His faith is unwavering, his heart honorable, but his understanding of power remains naïve.
Unlike Auset, he does not view governance as a game of strategy, but as a sacred duty, one that must be upheld with honesty, justice, and devotion. He wishes to be a righteous Pharaoh, a warrior-king in the image of his ancestors, yet he is still a child, and the realities of rule are proving far more difficult than the ideals he has been taught.
- Ideal: "The Pharaoh is the light of Kemet, and I am its chosen son."
- Bond: "Re-Horakhty watches over me. I must never dishonour the gods."
- Flaw: "I see the world as it should be, not as it is."
Relationship with Pharaoh Auset I
Akl-Abanoub IV’s relationship with Auset I is one of familial duty, political necessity, and growing distrust. Though bound by tradition as both co-rulers and spouses, the power dynamic is far from equal—Auset, older, shrewder, and more experienced, wields the true authority, while Akl-Abanoub is expected to perform his role as Pharaoh without truly holding the reins of power.
He wants to trust her, but he cannot shake the feeling that she keeps secrets from him, maneuvers in the shadows, and makes decisions without his knowledge. His idealism clashes with her pragmatism, and though he is not yet old enough to challenge her openly, there is a growing resentment between them.
Despite their strained relationship, they must present a united front, as the people of Kemet believe in their divine rule.
Strengths and Weaknesses
✔ Inherently Charismatic – He is young but commands attention, carrying the presence of a Pharaoh.
✔ Faithful and Devoted – His unyielding belief in Re-Horakhty gives him divine resilience and strength.
✔ Trained in Combat and Ritual – Raised as a Paladin of Re-Horakhty, he has been taught swordplay and divine magic, though he has yet to be tested in battle.
✘ Naïve and Inexperienced – He has little understanding of courtly intrigue or political maneuvering.
✘ Rigid in Thinking – He sees the world in absolutes, which makes compromise and deception difficult for him.
✘ Easily Manipulated – His desire to be respected as Pharaoh makes him vulnerable to flattery and influence.
The Path Ahead
Akl-Abanoub IV stands at a crossroads—he is young now, but he will not remain a boy forever. As he grows, he must decide what kind of Pharaoh he will become:
- Will he remain Auset’s shadow, content to be a figurehead while she rules?
- Will he grow into a ruler of his own right, strong enough to challenge her influence?
- Or will he fall victim to those who seek to use him for their own ambitions?
The gods have given him life where his brothers perished. Now, he must prove he is worthy of the throne.
