Forwold

Sitting on the western edge of Gale's Breath forest, this small, four-walled town quietly sits. This town serves as a resting point for those making the journey to Fortis-gale.

Demographics

This town is predominantly made up of Humans (roughly 300) with the other 270 inhabitants being a very diverse group of Halflings, Elves, Gnomes, Dragonborn, and even a few Dwarves.   Most inhabitants of Forwold are within the working class of Atera performing farming jobs. The town contains a blacksmith, carpenter, general goods store, and a small shop owned by a traveling merchant who spends their time between Harsney, The Harbor of Temswell, and Forwold.

Government

Notya Thadim is the current mayor of Forwold. The mayor is an elected position, with elections taking place once every 10 years or as needed.

Defences

Four strong walls protect Forwold. These walls were built when the town was founded and have been maintained, repaired, and improved upon each year.

Industry & Trade

Not many goods leave this town. Bread and cured meats are the primary sources of income. The local blacksmith and carpenter do often make a few coins off traveling adventurers, merchants, and wanderers.

History

Forwold was first known as "Four Walls", named after its 4 strong walls protecting the town. Overtime "Four Walls" was shortened to "Forwall" and eventually to "Forwold".   Forwold doesn't have a true founding date. This area was slowly settled over the course of hundreds of years and became an official town in Decay, 24 after Fortis-gale became recognized as a city. Forwold has served as the last bastion of civilization before Fortis-gale for over a thousand years. It has helped keep travelers, merchants, and adventurers safe from the danger of the Gale's Breath Forest by providing a place for rest and restock.   In Water, 476, Establishing, 892, and Gifts, 1209 Forwold fell victim to significant raids from Goblins. During each raid, Forwold was able to overcome the enemy forces but suffered significant losses in each. Simple weapons, shields, food, and horses were stolen in each of the raids. The town's historical documents indicate that the Goblins attempted to storm the town to steal goods that they good use against them in later attacks.    While Goblin attacks are not uncommon, these large scale attacks are. Each of these raids was foreshadowed by the presence of a Nilbog flanked by 2 hooded figures  close to the town's walls.
