St. Andral's Church

This church is dedicated to the Morninglord and named after St. Andral, whose bones once rested under the altar.   Father Lucian Petrovich oversees the church and does his best to raise spirits. Assisting him is an orphan and altar boy named Yeska. A brawny lad with a perpetually furrowed brow named Milivoj tends the grounds and digs graves.   At night, the church is packed with frightened Vallakian adults and equally terrified Vallakian children. Father Lucian offers his nightly congregation his prayers and the promise of St. Andral’s protection.

Background

Until recently, the church was protected from evil by the bones of St. Andral, which were sealed in a crypt beneath the church’s main altar. But now the church is at risk because someone broke into the crypt over a week ago and stole the bones. Until recently, Father Lucian was the only person in Vallaki who knew about the bones, but he recalls mentioning them to Yeska about a month ago to put the fearful boy at ease.

Developments

After successfully retrieving the bones of St. Andral from Van Der Voort Vood Vork, the party races back to the church in hopes of beating the swarm of vampires heading that way. During the confrontation at the church, several townsfolk are killed. Ultimately, the party is able to place the bones back on their bier and restore the hallowed ground of the church, driving off the vampires. However, Countess Ravna van Roeyen and her minion Rahadin arrive and attempt to lure Ireena away. The party retreats into the church, and Ravna departs, with Rahadin conveying an invitation from her to Castle Roeyen.   Later, after the Baron has been overthrown and the town is under the rule of the Lady Wachter, the party stays briefly at the church. They learn that the church is under constant watch and the Father never leaves the premises for fear of being apprehended. They also surmise that the Father's grandson Victor may be helping him survive and also terrorizing the boyara's cultists.   After killing the boyara's servant Ernst Larnak in the form of a saber-toothed tiger at the Wachterhaus, the party smuggles his body back to the church and convinces the Father to let them stash the body in the church crypts.
