Age Of The Imperium

The Imperium spreads across all the known world, under the benevolent and long reach of the Undying Emperor.   A century ago, the Emperor led humankind to victory in the Last War over the inhuman creatures of the world. Monsters were hunted and destroyed, old cults and failed gods were abandoned, eldritch magic discarded.   In the present times, magic is forbidden unless sanctioned by Imperial Law. Sanctioned magic is used only in service to the Imperium. Divine magic flows from the Undying Emperor, and arcane magic is taught through tightly controlled institutions.   There is no disease in the Imperium. No famine, no untimely death. The Orders of the Imperium bring all of humankind closer to the image of the Emperor. Eternal life, eternal health.   Yet in the shadows of civilization, old magic still lingers. Perhaps the tainted blood of a long dead race lends strange powers to a child coming of age. Or a wayward student stumbles upon forbidden knowledge, resurrecting ancient rites of power. Under the vigilant eye of the Imperial Inquisition, such corruptions are rooted out and crushed without mercy.   It is a time of peace and prosperity. But in the dark corners of the Imperium, the Last War goes on.
