NuTek

NuTek short for New Technology, is a slang term used for the latest developments in the Tech world.
Technology has continued to advance at an increased, though not yet exponential, rate. The development of the Linx and advanced machine learning have pushed many fields into the realm of what is considered science fiction today. Agriculture

The Green revolution was real, advancing crop yields and basically solving world hunger by the early 2000's since then the industry has continued to move forward researching new technologies in hydroponics, genetic modification and cloning.

Computing

By far the fastest advancing industry for decades the age of computing entered a new era with the invention of the Linx.

The world continues to struggle with an ever growing need for more energy. Storage and transmission capabilities have improved. However, production consistently lags behind demand.

• Heavily improved battery technology has allowed for the miniaturization of many technologies.
• NovaCore Reactors (NovaGen): Not truly "Cold Fusion" but close enough that most non-scientists can't tell. Powered by Aurorium these miniaturized "green energy" reactors have begun revolutionizing the world's power grids.

Finance & Economic

Currency markets have been rattled as old countries default on debt and MegaCorps become the financial powers of the world. Defacto virtual currencies are becoming prominent world-wide.

Health Care (Includes Medical, Pharmaceutical & Human Augmentation)

• Cloning: Human cloning has been perfected, so to speak. However like most new technologies it is extremely expensive.
• Cyberware: mechanical prosthetics capable of replacing any organ but the brain itself. These are still considered new, but are increasingly reliable. See Cybernetics
• BioBoost Supplements (GeneTek) - a line of supplements that enhance physical abilities and promote muscle growth, marketed towards athletes and soldiers.
• ImmunoShield (GeneTek) - a genetically-engineered virus that boosts the immune system and provides resistance to a variety of diseases.
• Replicant Prosthetics - artificial limbs and organs that are genetically-engineered to be indistinguishable from real ones, providing enhanced functionality and durability.

Manufacturing & Construction

Limited improvements have been made, as yet drone delivery is insufficient for the large mass necessary for construction and augmented or robotic workers are still cost ineffective. Augmented design in SIM has allowed for enhanced design and manufacturing however.

Military

NuTek will always be weaponized, the military and terrorist organizations around the world are using Linx equipped hackers as well as augmented soldiers and operatives. The use of automatons was outlawed in the Treaty of Nairobi in 2035, still rumors persist.

• Super Soldiers: There are consistent rumors that various governments are working on super soldiers using cybernetics and other NuTek.

Mining

Rare minerals such as Lithium continue to be in high demand as the world's hunger for super batteries and conductors reaches its peak.

Transportation

High speed delivery is a staple of modern society. With the advent of automated drones and aerodynes getting around has only gotten easier.
