Dragonborn

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dragonborn are roughly humanoid, though with a very dragonlike twist. They have two arms and legs, though they have three talon-like claws for toes, with a fourth claw at the back, as well as three similar talon-claws on each hand, and one akin to a thumb. Dragonborn are quite heavy set, and much taller on average than humans. Most stand above six feet tall, and weighing around 250lbs - almost double a human. Their heads are lizardlike, featuring blunt snouts and ridged brows. Dragonborn also have bony potrusions on their heads of various types, with some having horns.   Dragonborn bodies are very draconic in appearance, with hides adorned in colourful scales related to their breeding. They also have an extra organ known as the Draconis Fundamentum, which provides them the ability to breath out certain elements depending on breeding. This organ is also related to the inherent Dragonborn ability to withstand the element it produces.

Biological Traits

Dragonborn come in a number of colours. Black, Blue, Brass, Bronze, Copper, Gold, Green, Red, Silver, White are all colours of Dragonborn confirmed to exist. Each breed tends towards certain physical features, such as different formation of bone protrusion, frills, and so on.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragonborn reproduce through eggs. The eggs gestate within the mother and are laid shortly before hatching.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dragonborn grow quicker than humans. They walk days after hatching, attain the size and Development of a 10-year-old human child by the age of 3, and reach physical Adulthood by 15, though are not considered fully mentally developed until 18. They live to be around 80 on average.

Ecology and Habitats

Dragonborn can make their home almost anywhere, though with preferences based on elemental affinity. Red scaled dragonborn typically prefer hotter climates, while white prefer the cold, and so on.

Biological Cycle

Dragonborn are known to shed and regrow scales on a cycle which varies between individuals as well as across different ages. Older Dragonborn will shed less often, and regrow slower, while young dragonborn shed often and grow very fast. Shedding tends to happen in the warmer parts of the year, with new scales coming in time for the cold.
