Halimede

In the depths of the ocean, nestled within the skeletal remnants of an ancient dragon turtle, lies the underwater city of Halimede. Once a legendary creature of immense power, the dragon turtle's remains have been transformed into a thriving city beneath the waves. Here among the coral-strewn chambers and labyrinthine tunnels, sea elves have built their homes, creating a city unlike any other. The architecture blends seamlessly with the natural bone and structures of the dragon turtle's skeleton, creating a mesmerizing fusion of organic and crafted elements.
Some centuries ago, Halimede started off as an excavation site. People noted how monsters that usually inhabited these waters steered clear of the skeleton, and travelers began to stop and rest here for it's protection. People began to settle here permanently, and it slowly turned into the city of Halimede. Ever since then, Halimede has been a place of wonder for both tourists and scholars alike.

Current Rulers

Lord Trevor Tilmann comes from a long line of important scholars. He's dedicated much to the pursuit of knowlegde. He's also a sponsor of Malachite League, and has recently established a base of operations for the guild's aquautic folk.
Overall, Tilmann is a respected man, although some think he should focus more time on funding Halimede, rather than his personal expeditions and scholarly pursuits.

History

A Dragon's Death (100~ BKD). The land of Halimede was the final resting place for an ancient dragon turtle, which researchers estimated to have died halfway through the Traxian dominion. While the cause of death is not clear, cracks and fractures in it's body indicates it did not go peacefully. Much like a whale fall, sea organisms fed on it's body for centuries, until there was nothing left but an empty skeleton.
Discovering Hali (136 AKD) In 136 AKD, a traveling family came across the skeletal remains of an ancient dragon turtles. One of the daughters nicknamed it Hali, and stories of Hali soon spead all over Eione. People began to visit the creature themselves, noting how monsters steered clear of the skeleton. Travelers began to treat Hali as a safe place to rest, while scholars set up excavation sites.
Halimede's Founding (150 AKD) Some of the travelers and scholars that planned to stay here temporarily ended up staying permanently. A nice little community was built, which continued expanding over the years. Finally in 150 AKD Halimede was founded as an actual city under Eionian rule, lead by House Tilmann.
Establishing the Elva Institute (310 AKD) Lady Elva Tilmann was a childhood friend of Archmage Arabel Leventis. After Elva's tragic passing in 305 AKD, Arabel promised to name and established an institute in her honor. This never ended up happening, since Arabel soon disappeared during the Eionian War. So House Tilmann scraped together whatever money they could, and established the Elva Institute themselves. It was nothing as grand as Arabel had planned, but it still meant something to the people of Halimede.
