The Worm

In the case of 'The Worm' it was recorded by the ships on board natural philosopher that the leviathan which she nicknamed 'The Worm' resembled a massive worm with rows and rows of massive teeth about the size of the ship she was on had surfaced just far enough away from the ship to not topple it immediately, It seemed to have rings of armour that could not be pierced by any of the harpoons or powered ram when it got close enough to attack. The crew survived only because another leviathan attacked it.

The Rhino

Reported by a wall guard who had to fend of the wall for over an hour by blinding it using a massive spotlight. The natural philosopher who was visiting had managed to draw a quick sketch of the creature who then later commissioned a painting of the creature and married the guard. 'The rhino' was eventually killed by the joint forces of the Prethos Wall Guard and Eskanan Navy by using explosive charges and eventually using an outlawed form of magic.

The Whale

The tamest of the 'near death' cases. The whale was an eyeless, mass of blubber and tentacles seen by a hunting ship. It emitted a low humming sound as it broke surface but it did so ever so gently that it almost seemed to be domesticated. It followed the ship at a safe distance for the remained of their journey singing them to sleep at night. The entire crew quit their profession and started a group against their former profession and employers.

Anatomy

A mass of black tendrils and tentacles moved underneath the boat. Then a giant hulking mass was pulled behind them it was the biggest one I had ever seen. I was sure it was going to capsize the boat. Then it pulled its wet leathery skin out the water a horrid single red eye stared at me and it opened its quivering maw and let out a bone chilling call.

In reports from natural philosophers it has been discovered that while leviathans share properties none have ever been discovered to be the same, although this is only speculation as very few specimens have been hauled back to a slaughterhouse. Leviathans will usually have one or more of the following features:

• Tentacles or tendrils
• Very large mouth sometimes as large as the body in the case of 'The Worm'
• Elongated body or large blubbery mass
• tough leathery skin
• Lots of or a singular eye
• Spines or spikes

Many natural philosophers have come to the conclusion that the reason for the variation in leviathans is because of the 'portal to the abyss' that they emerge through. There are other more extreme variations in the case of the 'Rhino' where it had an skeletal structure that allowed it to swim at incredible speeds and slam into the outer walls of Leviathan City. And of course there are feature that they share such as the blood oil sac, that they are hunted for.

Genetics and Reproduction

Natural philosophers have theorized that when someone commits a truly evil deed then a leviathan is created and come through the portal to represent that deed.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

It is thought that they can communicate through a song, but many have disputed this theory because of how they cannot hear it, but Yarin Moto wrote about him hearing their song extensively in his book. Leviathans can also see through their eyes or eye although it has been observed that they sometimes do not possess eyes in the case of 'The Whale'.
