Emperor Reynaud Edralas

Reynaud is the first Emperor of the Nicaean Empire, and the first member of the Edralas Family to show up in the historical record. His reign was eventful, integrating much of the Kasesh Desert through both diplomatic and military means, but died at what was still a relatively young age. It was unclear who his heir would be until his son Remmonet Edralas appeared shortly after.

The events that led to his rise are not entirely clear, but during his reign he was known as a unifier, peacefully convincing many of the Catfolk settlements to join. This also led to the growth of the Catfolk population and, eventually, the perception that Humans and Catfolk held equal places in the Empire.
However, his reign was not entirely peaceful. Relations with Bechar were strained from the beginning, and the expansion following Reynaud's rise was enough to send them over the edge. Skirmishes broke out in the desert between Bechar and Zenris, and the army from Bechar even made it as far as @Talnahara before being pushed back. Reynaud personally led the army and, rather than a lengthy siege, was able to convince the rulers of Bechar to a peaceful settlement.
Towards the very end of his life, Reynaud managed to complete the integration of the Kasesh Desert by finally convincing the College of Elementura to become part of the Empire. Not much is known abut what deal was struck, but the College still retains a high level of autonomy, not only due to its geographical isolation.
