The dwarves are a deeply religious people despite their seemingly outwardly indifference on the surface. They have a long history that is deeply rooted in the world as the mountains are themselves.
In the beginning there was nothing. Then came into existence Soldin, the bringer of light and life. He created the cosmos and his star, the sun. Then from the darkness came Myrkra, the goddess of darkness and death.
The First Dwarves are said to have been created by Soldin and Jorthea in an effort to free Brunis from the forge of the world. They were tasked with digging deep into the world.
The dwarves believe that the goddess Brunis dwells within the core of the world. They refer to this as the forge, as they have discovered the core is molten rock, and this is forged into new land when it erupts and cools on the surface.
According to the dwarven story of the creation of our world, the goddess Brunis is trapped with the core of the world. The god Aukrim has been trying to free her, as evidenced by quakes and the odd volcano eruption that have been witnessed over the years.
