According to the dwarven story of the creation of our world, the goddess Brunis is trapped with the core of the world. The god Aukrim has been trying to free her, as evidenced by quakes and the odd volcano eruption that have been witnessed over the years such as the major eruption of the Great Mountain caused by the fist dwarves digging down to the forge of the world that caused a near extinction event at the time.
It is said that if and when Aukrim is successful, the cataclysm of such an event will destroy the world and all life on it.
