Creation of the Universe

In the beginning

In the beginning there was Nothing, The Overgod, and the Principle Plane. The Overgod created the gods from the Principle Plane and placed them in the Nothing. The gods believe The Overgod explained to them that they were to create and govern life.

Let there be Azeth

Azeth was the first god to understand the assignment from the Overgod and how to carry it out. Azeth figured out that the gods had to be made out of something and tried to shape the energy from the Principle Plane in a way similar to how the gods were given shape. Azeth discovered a sort of faucet from which the energy of the Principle Plane could be tapped and given shape. Together with Asjitéok Azeth created a sort of cosmic highway to the Principle Plane that anyone could tap into. Initially it was only the gods who used it as a tool to make their more simple creations, the complex things still required them to tap directly into the Principle Plane. Later other creatures discovered or were taught how to tap into the highway, which they would come to call "The Weave".   Azeth created the first world. For more about Azeth, see Azeth.

...and Dragons

Azeth created Dragons as the epitome of creation. Azeth thought they were so neat that everyone should enjoy these amazing creatures. Without consulting anyone else Azeth allowed the Dragons to reproduce and visit other worlds. These other worlds were the creations of other gods. As a result the other gods hated the dragons as they didn't want them on their creations, but yet, there they were and they just kept coming back. There were two gods who hated the Dragons even more than the other gods did. These gods were Alveïn and Mogul, both major deities in the Dwarven pantheon.

Extreme balance

Pyurethoniam was one of the first gods after Azeth that figured out how to create things. Pyurethoniam created the four elemental extremes and balanced these to create other things. Other deities occasionally tapped into these limitless planes of elemental extremities. These were also some of the few planes not plagued by Dragons.

Divine toys

As the gods learned to create they also learned who they were. Divine personalities and affiliations formed. Some gods sought likeminded gods with whom they would create things to live in harmony. Other gods sought opposing gods with whom they could create conflict for their creations as a test of their might. Some gods even learned to create lesser gods. They formed the divine souls from the principle plane and The Overgod gave them life. The parental gods shaped the personalities of their children but like with the mortals, children do not always take to their parents. After time it became clear that the best toy of a god was a world of their own creation or one that a likeminded god had made. The realms where gods felt at home became known as the Outer Planes. Realms where gods essentially lived and ruled. Their highly personal divine toys.

Soup between worlds

After several deities had created their worlds Asjitéok revealed her own creation. She created a way for other worlds to connect to one another. She created the Astral Plane and devised the means to travel through it to other planes of existence. The Astral Plane displaced the Nothing that thus far had resided between worlds. This creation completed the currently known Cosmological model.

Alveïn dissolves into the astral plane

Alveïn had enough of the Dragons messing with creation. Dragons traveled between worlds through the Astral Plane. Alveïn decided to merge himself with the Astral Plane so he could control who went where. However, the Astral Plane was too vast for Alveïn to cover by himself so he chose to specifically limit the movement of Dragons.

The challenge world

When most gods were satisfied with their creations Pyurethoniam suggested they should collaborate and compete in one massive project. They created the Challenge World, known by its inhabitants as Aerlad. On this challenge world they all created their own little parts and then they had to take a step back to let their creations live their lives. The idea was that whoever had created the best thing would ofc have it dominate the challenge world. However, nobody intended to play fair and thus everyone influenced the world from time to time, which created an unintended balance. This balance amused the gods and they decided to keep influencing it a bit to keep things entertaining and interesting.
