Azeth

Creation

Azeth was one of the first greater deities, from time before mortals, from before the worlds and realms of the cosmos had even formed. Azeth was one of the deities created directly by the Overgod. Azeth was the first god to understand why they were created and gave life to the first world. The first world Azeth created was a work of perfection and as a crown on creation itself Azeth created the Dragons. Azeth felt satisfied and retired, leaving the other deities grasping in the dark, overwhelmed by the task at hand.

The Principle Plane

Azeth figured out that the gods had to be made out of something and tried to shape the energy from the Principle Plane in a way similar to how the gods were given shape. Azeth figured out that there was a sort of faucet from which the energy of the Principle Plane could be tapped and given shape. This would later be known as the Weave.

The first world

Azeth created the first world. It was a world of extremes and of wonder. It has massive plants and tiny wonderous creatures, but Azeth thought it lacked something, something majestic, something powerful, something that would create some turmoil and be a constant source of change in the world. Azeth then went on to create the first dragons. The dragons were made and died again and again until they were epitome of the might and splendor of creation. Finally Azeth gave them the means to reproduce and travel to other worlds so that those worlds could be blessed with the perfect example of creation. Azeth wanted to keep the first world safe from the influence of other deities and created a bubble for it, just inside the weave. This bubble was in a small gap, like a gap created when a thread is pulled slightly loose from a piece of fabric. This place was safe from the reach, sight, or even the understanding of the gods. Dragons could leave the first world, but never return.

Dragons and other worlds

Other deities were unaware of the creation of the first world and its dragons. While creating their own world a deity would sometimes see its creation be interrupted by the appearance of a dragon who would usually pick a piece of the world to settle down and claim as its own. This infuriated the deities, who had their own plans for where the dragons appeared. Though it was little effort for a deity to remove a dragon, they were often times annoying pests. For a long time deities thought dragons were simply a byproduct of their own creation. Some deities were proud of dragons that came to inhabit their worlds and shaped worlds to be the best of homes to the dragons. Other deities were so frustrated by the dragons that they created their own immensely powerful beings that were to deter the dragons.

Dragons vs Alveïn and Mogul

There were two deities that were especially frustrated by the dragons. These deities are known by Dwarves as Alveïn and Mogul, see Dwarven Deities. Alveïn created worlds of inconceivably vast wealth in the form of metals and minerals. Mogul created the Dwarves who would use these worlds to become epic craftsmen. However, dragons loved this boundless wealth and its refined forms. As a result these worlds were plagued by dragons. On some worlds the Dwarves learned to live alongside the dragons. Metallic and Gem dragons would work with the dwarves to create even greater things than their gods had thought possible. Alveïn and Mogul hated the dragons and saw them as nasty interference to the glorious plans they had for their worlds. Alveïn could not believe that dragons were a side product of their creation, as their creation was done with such care and precision that there was no way side products would form. Alveïn researched the origin of dragons by visiting other deities and their worlds. He learned how worlds were connected and that worlds could be made outside of the material plane of existence. Despite his efforts, Alveïn could not find the source of dragons, concluding that someone had made them beyond their reach. Alveïn had now learned so much and had a greater understanding of how creation worked than any of the other deities, except for Azeth, making Alveïn the second most powerful deity in existence. Alveïn shed himself of his appearance and dissolved into the Ethereal Plane, becoming an entity that could control portals between worlds and control who traveled where. This enabled Alveïn to reduce the dragon visits, allowing worlds to free themselves of the dominance of dragons.
Alveïn and other deities started to become suspicious. Though they didn't want to admit it, they suspected that only Azeth had the knowledge and power to create anything outside of their reach. Alveïn conspired with other deities to rid the universe of Azeth, in the hope that it would rid them of the dragons.

The challenge

Eons passed and the other deities had not only created life on the worlds but had also created subservient deities. They told Azeth that there was a competition, one last world to be created and governed by all deities. This would be their crown jewel, the epitome of their creation. Azeth was intrigued by such a challenge, yet also convinced his creations would easily dominate the new world. The other deities were aware of his superiority and some conspired against him.

Arrogance and betrayal

The deities agreed to meet on the new world to establish the basis of their playing field. Once all deities had manifested themselves they began shaping their lands. Azeth was the first to finish with his lands and waited for the others with arrogant impatience. The conspiring deities were angered and decided to go forth with their plan. They trapped Azeth in his own lands and tore him apart into tiny pieces who became the first Azethian Elves. The conspiring deities left the Azethians to die in the still lifeless lands of Azeth.

Contingency

What most deities didn't know was that Azeth had befriended another deity, Corellon, who would become the creator of the Elves. Corellon took pity to the Azethians and gave life to their lands without drawing attention from the other deities that were busy with their own creations.
Unfortunately Corellon could not openly support the Azethians and the Azethians were left to fend for themselves. There were other deities that in small ways aided the Azethians but to the Azethians these efforts have never been enough.

Persistence of Dragons

Despite the undoing of Azeth, the dragons persisted on the worlds, including Aerlad. Dragons kept being born and visited the worlds, though they were more rare as Alveïn now somewhat controlled where they could go. Some dragons recognize the essence of their creator when they meet Azethians and are more reluctant to do them harm. However, a dragon will still preserve and enrich themselves rather than protect an Azethian, believing that they are the epitome of creation and thus beyond the shards of their creator.

Dragons on the Challenge World

As per rules of the Challenge World Alveïn is not allowed to fully block who comes and goes. This means the dragons are almost completely free to come and go. They are however kept in check cause dragons are kind of a wildcard of creation. They aren't controlled by any deity as their creator has been torn to shreds.

Reckoning

It is believed by the Azethians that Azeth tries to regain is divine form through the spirits of the Azethians. If enough Azethians ascend and unite, they will start to reform the divine form of Azeth. Once the divine form of Azeth begins to reform he will call the remaining Azethian spirits home to him. Once Azeth has completely restored himself he will destroy the deities that conspired against him and undo their creations.
