Council Tree
The Council Tree district is home to the Council Tree itself, as well as the Emporium, and major temples to Hix, Lyradell, and Denethen.
Demographics
Posh and upper class housing fetches a high price for those who wish and can afford to live in the centre of the city. Government officials, dignitaries, wealthy patrons of the arts and well-to-do merchants are the typical demographic.
Tourists will make up a large part of the daily population but most of those leave by dusk.
Points of interest
The Council Tree is the oldest structure in the city. It was first planted, grown, and magically enhanced by the early Elves of the city to be the place where the Dwarves and Elves would meet to discuss their plans for Stonebridge.
The Emporium is the large shopping center on the first floor of the Council Tree. A portion of the space is dedicated to food. Surrounding the walls of the building are different food stalls of different races within the city, making the Emporium a great place to taste authentic foods from almost every race across Starhelm. Other than the food, there are hundreds of stalls and shops that sell a wide variety of items, from small trinkets, to simple magical tools and Gnomish inventions.
Three major temples reside in the Council Tree district - The Platinum Bough, The Emerald Anvil, and the Cogsworth
The Platinum Bough is the temple to Lyradell, headed up by Exanra Petalblade, a High Elf with extremely kind eyes. This temple to Lyradell is one of the older temples to the Elven god on all of Starhelm, behind Honour’s Soul in Aspenshield and Gleamspire in Brightbough.
The Emerald Anvil is the temple to Denethen, headed up by Rangod Wrathhammer. The Emerald Anvil and the The Platinum Bough are the two oldest temples in Stonebridge behind the Cogsworth.
The Cogsworth is the first and largest of the temples in Stonebridge. It did not start off as large as it today but the Gnome's fascination with adding and 'improving' has allowed the temple to blossom into an incredible work of architecture and gadgetry. It is headed up by Gillywood Bridgebottom, a Gnome of prolific inventions, from the smallest and immediate to the larger and longer term items. Many of his items never make it past the testing stage.
The Cat's Platter is a fancy restaurant made popular by the many dignitaries and wealthy travelers that frequent it. It serves excellent food, locally sourced, and is known for some incredible desserts.
The Sleeping Dragon Inn is a large, two-storey inn with great charm and a variety of rooms to fit different travelers' needs. It has a separate dining room for more private and quiet gatherings, and it has a private banquet hall if the need arises.
Tourism
Many tourists come to Council Tree to visit the Emporium and enjoy the day shopping. Some foreign officials and dignitaries come to this district, conduct their business and then leave. At night the Council Tree is quieter and can be peaceful for night walks.
