Area 9
This is a battlemented walkway between the higher parts of the building to the north and south. Note that the battlements overhang the walls by 2½' all round, thus making climbing down extremely hazardous.
You cautiously head toward the southern door, peering into the hallway beyond, It is faintly lit, so you proceed carefully.
Area 12
This long passageway is dimly lit via the arrow slits. Carefully you carry on down the hallway, passing a doorway into a small chamber, and proceed to the far end, where it opens into another empty chamber.
Area 13
This is the major room in the east tower. There is a hole in the ceiling, but it is sealed with a trapdoor. The roof is too high to reach, so you double back along the corridor to the door leading north that you previously passed.
Area 11
Two urns contain charcoal and incense ashes, and a stone slab on the floor is engraved with a pentagram; there is also a large stone throne against the east wall.
While standing in the south-east corner, your hand brushes on the stone throne. A small, deformed winged creature materialises within the pentagram and cackles dementedly. Its wings beat furiously as it hovers above the symbol, watching you intently.
For a moment the creature continues to watch you, cackling away loudly, but it does not leave the pentagram. Then as you move toward the exit of the room, it lunges at you. It's small size is deceptive as it strikes again and again, 1hp, then 2hp then another 1hp of damage you take, before eventually your sword strikes the small beast as it flies around you. It comes at your face with talons outstretched, and your blade comes up from below skewering the animated creature, green ooze spurting over you.
You shake the beast off the end of your sword and shake off the excess ooze.
Area 8
Previously a kitchen, this room contains a stone slab work surface and a well (complete with bucket and winch mechanism). You take a quick look round without finding anything unusual, and decide to carry on.
Area 7
This large hall is dimly lit via the arrow slits on the N and S walls. It looks like a ceremonial dining room, and contains a huge stone table in keeping with Al's sombre tastes. You carefully sneak across the south side of the room toward the stairs at the far end which you descend to the floor below as carefully and quietly as possible.
