Dwem'vera Triumverate
The Dwem'vera Triumvirate is a nation in Val'Kara located in the southern center of the continent. The Triumvirate is a representative republic, headed by three individuals who lead the different branches of government. The Regent, the Chancellor, and the High Justicar. It has a long history of stunning diplomats and brave warriors.
Structure
The government of the Triumvirate is a representative government. With the people voting for their leaders locally and nationally. All three leaders are elected by the people every eight years. The three branches of government are the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive branches. Each branch is beholden to the others, and they keep each other in check. The Executive branch is made up of the Regent and their advisors. The Regent is a regent in name only, and only takes direct control of matters of state during wartime. The Regent holds great sway however, and can propose laws or make legislation to propose to the Senate, or put in place a Regent's Order which supersedes the senate. But any action by the regent to claim full power, or dissolve the democratic system is perishable by execution for treason. The Legislative branch is responsible for intricate matters of state. The Senate passes and makes laws. They are all elected by their local constituents, except the Chancellor who is elected nationally and leads the Senate. The Judicial Branch takes on legal matters within the Triumvirate, and makes sure all laws are constitutional. They also have the power to judge the Regent, senators, or Chancellor if an investigation is required. The High Justiciar leads the Grand Court in it's proceedings, and is required by law to take an Oath of True Neutrality. Then beneath these branches are governors, mayors, local councils, and then the citizens.
Culture
The Dwem'vera Triumvirate is a diverse nation, and their motto of "Each a King, Aeris their Castle" stands true. The people decide the fate of their nation more so than any other, and though not everything is perfect, many count themselves lucky for the freedoms they have. They believe in freedom and self designation, their Triumvirate government style was meant to ensure equality from the beginning. And though it used to be that only Elves, Dwarves and Humans were allowed to serve as one of the three, that has change since the Triumvirate became a nation of more than just primarily those three peoples.
Public Agenda
Peace in Aeris, and Val'Kara. An end to the imperialistic expansions of nations.
Assets
They are a wealthy nation, and their war machines are advanced. Their trade deals with the Halflings and Gnomes up north have given them insight into the closely guarded secrets of those folk. They recently developed what they've named the "Crawler". A giant moving, metal fortress that can move across the battlefield and deploy troops quickly. The Dwarven forges in Desa'tor work tirelessly to develop new weapons and mechanisms unseen by most folk. To that point, though the outside world views the Triumvirate's government as weak and ineffectual, their army is substantial. In the Little War the Triumvirate forces were able to thrash the retreating Praetorans. And in the current year they are one of the only still stable nations on the continent.
History
The Dwem'vera Triumvirate was formally established in 518 BGC, but it's roots lie in the ancient Dwarven territory at it's center, with it's capital Desa'tor being the center of that ancient society as well. The Dwem'vera Triumvirate faced many trials as one of the new Val'Karan nations which rose up to claim independence from the Praetoran Empire which had ruled the continent. The Dwem'vera Triumvirate would also participate in the Val'Kara Wars. The Triumvirate's poor performance in that conflict spurred them to become better prepared for war, while still remaining a mostly peace loving nation. Notably in 345 AGC the Triumvirate moved towards a republic inspired by writings by the ancient Emperor Sylra Vereth. Years later they'd play a key roll in the War of Falling Stars, the Praetoran Empire's last bid for supremacy on the continent. During the Long Freeze, many people fled to the capital Desa'tor to escape the blistering wasteland. But Desa'tor was met with it's own challenge when Drow and Duergar started emerging from the darkness of the vast undercity. The Old City became a contested zone in constant war. But the Dwem'vera Triumvirate emerged from the Long Freeze they were able to prosper again. They've participated in a few wars but mostly stay peaceful.
Disbandment
On the 23rd of Maya after over a year of war the Dwem'veran capitol fell to the Praetorans, who won in an unexpected victory against what should've been a superior force aided by Automata. King Aelen Alenecar was beheaded by Emperor Kavagak, and his body tossed into the Undercity. Many Dwem'verans escaped deeper into the mountains or into Anor-Gotha, but the Triumvirate was declared fully destroyed and disbanded by the conquered High Justicar Lea De-Senoris. Other members of the ruling council are rumored to have escaped. However it seems that the Tri-Color shall never fly again.
Demography and Population
The Dwem'vera Triumvirate is a land of many different species and races. Though Elves, Dwarves and Humans are still most prominant; it is certainly more diverse than it's neighbors. All are permitted to serve in the military, hold office, and live freely.
Territories
The Dwem'vera Triumvirate broke itself off from the Praetoran Empire long ago. It's very capitol is the ancient seat of a long gone Dwarven kingdom. No nation has claim to their lands since the Praetoran Empire became a shell of it's former self, which in turn is just the remains of the long dissolved Aeran Empire of old.
Military
The Grand Army of the Triumvirate is a well respected military. Most recently proving themselves in the Little War under the command of the Half-Dragon High Commander Thuron. Under his leadership and innovation the Triumvirate has begun to push the boundries of military technology. With the implementation of "crawlers" and new designs for an airship under construction. The Dwem'vera looks to technology as the way all future wars will begin to be fought, so they wish to stay on the cutting edge.
Technological Level
The Dwem'vera Triumvirate is quite advanced in their technology. New weapons of war, industrial foundries, and advancements in construction methods
Religion
The Dwem'vera Triumvirate, like most nations, primarily worships the High God Pantheon. But that does not stop some from worshipping the Low Gods as well in the Shadows
Foreign Relations
Relations with other nations is good in the case of the Triumvirate. Though many other world governments see their lack of executive power as a great weakness, they respect the Triumvirate's place on the world stage as a legitimate and formidable ally or foe. They are sworn enemies of the Praetorans, many wars with the Praetorans have cultivated this bad relationship. Though the great Val'Karan Pact of Unity has long been dissolved ever since the Long Freeze, talks have increased between the nations in response to the Eldari Empire's expansion.
Agriculture & Industry
The Triumvirate is both an industrial and agricultural power. The city of Desa'tor is an industrial hub, fueled by the crafting prowess of the Dwarves. And the rest of the lands are perfect for farming.
Trade & Transport
The Triumvirate is a well travelled nation. There are plenty of roads through the rolling fields and valleys through which people make their way. They have trade deals with most nations other than the Eldari Empire and Praetora.
Education
Most commonfolk are educated up to a semi-advanced level, graduating on average at the age of 18. But those who wish to forward their education can apply for a school of higher education. Such universities are normally found in cities. The Mages College in Desa'tor is a notable place of learning, teaching many magic users of the land.
Infrastructure
The Dwem'vera Triumvirate boasts all the most modern of infrastructures. With sewage in cities and stone bridges in towns. Though some towns are better organized and kept than others, most are well taken care of. There are fortresses which defend the borders, and roads that make for easy navigation.
