Betra, God of War, Vengeance and Subjugation Character in Aeolia | World Anvil

Betra, God of War, Vengeance and Subjugation

Betra was the second son of Zeun, the Dead God, the Lost Father and Xera, The Ever Living Mother transmogrified. Driven by jealousy for his older brother, Aleph, god of Magic and Creation, and his mastery over mortals, Betra strove to seed division between his brother's creations. He became the god of War, Vengeance and Subjugation, bringing strife to the mortal world.

Betra's sigil is a burning sword, which like vengeance harms the bearer as well as the enemy. He is worshipped by those who seek vengeance, who control and celebrate slavery, oppression and subjugation, and who fight for the bestial sake of fighting. As such, he is often the god of slave masters, barbarians, and paladins and clerics of vengeance. Despite his negative image in most civilised societies (Betra is lawful evil) his followers still usually have a strictly lawful code of conduct, and even consider themsevles honourable (granted, within their own personal honour code).
