Garran Caerthall
Lord Garran Caerthall, the 56-year-old patriarch of House Caerthall, stood as a living embodiment of both the house's former glory and its current struggles. Standing over six feet tall with broad shoulders slightly stooped with age and worry, Garran maintained the commanding presence that once made him one of Eldoria's most respected battlefield commanders. His once golden hair had faded to a steely gray, kept short in the traditional military style of the western houses.
Before the rebellion, Garran was celebrated as the Hero of Westwatch Gap, having successfully defended a critical mountain pass against a force three times the size of his own during a border conflict with neighboring Thalnoria. His tactical brilliance and personal courage earned him the prestigious Order of the Golden Shield, an honor he was stripped of following the rebellion. The golden lion medallion that symbolized this honor now sits locked away in his private chambers, a painful reminder of all that was lost.
Lord Garran Caerthall was executed during one of the final battles of The Gilded Rebellion by Lord Karolis Duskbane of House Duskbane. The execution was controversial and some claim that Lord Caerthall had already surrendered and agreed to terms when he was killed by Lord Duskbane. Regardless, his death broke the spirit of The Gilded Rebellion and led to the surrender of the remaining forces.
