Braeden Caerthall
Sir Braeden Caerthall, the heir to House Caerthall, embodies both the house's proud martial tradition and the bitter resentment born from its fall from grace. Standing tall at six-foot-three with the broad shoulders characteristic of Caerthall men, Braeden cuts an imposing figure, especially in the blue and gold armor of his house. His sandy blonde hair is typically kept at shoulder length, pulled back during combat or formal occasions, and his intense blue-gray eyes often betray the storm of emotions he struggles to contain beneath his disciplined exterior.
Born into privilege as the heir of one of Eldoria's most respected houses, Braeden was only eight years old when The Gilded Rebellion began. His formative years were spent watching his family's status deteriorate and their ancestral holdings diminish. Unlike his father, who remembers the glory days clearly, or his mother, who focuses pragmatically on rebuilding, Braeden's personality has been shaped almost entirely by the aftermath of defeat. His childhood training at Oathwatch Academy was at time difficult due to his status as the son of a "traitor lord" and the occasional taunts about his father's death at the blade of Lord Karolis Duskbane.
As a knight, Braeden has proven exceptionally talented, particularly in mounted combat and traditional western fighting techniques. He has won several regional tournaments while competing under assumed names or minor house banners, as many tournament organizers would deny entry to a Caerthall. These victories, while impressive, only fuel his resentment toward the loyalist houses who openly disparage his family while privately acknowledging his skill. Driven by a desperate need to restore his family's honor, Braeden often takes on dangerous assignments patrolling the western borders, seeking opportunities to perform heroic deeds that might begin to wash away the stain of rebellion. His mother worries that this quest for redemption may lead to recklessness, while she tries to channel his passion toward more diplomatic endeavors—though Braeden has little patience for courtly maneuvering.
Braeden is the fourth roommate with Caelith, Vaelion, and Orren.
7264 Update
Braeden's life was changed by meeting the Fatebound and becoming one with them. In particular, Orren and Zyrelle changed him. Orren taught him forgiveness and what it meant to be a guardian to others. Zyrelle reminded him of the knightly virtues his father had believed in. He has now graduated Oathwatch and returned home to lead his people to be "the Shield for his Family" that Zyrelle told him to be when they dueled at 13 years old.
He believes fully in the Fatebound and will do his best to live up to the honorable examples set by them and his father. He knows the Valterewth Imperium will invade as soon as the wards fall and he is determined to hold the West. No matter the cost.
