USPS Session 35: Eyes in the Sky

General Summary

As the USPS continue to ascend Kavios's great tower, we zoom in on Harvoni who tumbles her way into a blindingly-bright chamber humming with energy   As Diaga goes to her in a leisurely pursuit, Harvoni looks around the room to find a difficult gravity effect slowing her down the closer she moves towards the room's center   She spots a large shield and a blue crystal on the room's North side, pocketing the Large Shield, she finds Ondska's staff laying mysteriously beneath the shield   The staff greets Harvoni politely, however as Harvoni takes a defensive stance against her adversary, Diaga enters the room   Surprisingly, the crew don't devolve immediately into brawling, instead the staff inquires whether Harvoni and her crew are here to assist in its master's plan   Harvoni absolutely bluffs the staff, asking about what Ondska's plan is   The staff reveals that Ondska's grand plan came to fruition after the ship he had called to lead him to his home planet, in the form of a meteor, crash-landed mysteriously into the Promatican Coast   At the time, Asteri/Ondska's backup plan then went into play, resulting in him founding the Leyndar Mining Company and building up a stockpile of Fantasma Crystals to begin amassing enough resources to return to his home planet with plenty to spare   The tower would act as an energy-gathering conduit as well as a launching platform for his ship, this tower would then be prepared by a spell to rise from beneath the city for when the time is right   Ondska would also eventually return to the ship's crash site, obtaining plans for his ship from the lost souls of the crew whom he was able to rescue   Ondska apparently needs more crystals to put his plan into action, however he doesn't have much time, as apparently he fears something he has heard from the stars themselves; All of this culminated in him pulling the trigger now of all times   The staff then asks Harvoni again for their help, however Harvoni responds with a 6th lvl Blight on the crystalline energy convert in the room's center   The staff flees the scene by turning into a globby blue form and phasing through the tower's structure, leaving Harvoni and Diaga in this bright-white room with an oppressive gravity   As Harvoni does some experimentation around the room, she finds out that the gravity effect only happens as she is in the light   She sets the shield in front of herself and walks directly to the room's center with no problems, Diaga following soon behind   As Harvoni and Diaga exit the room, the two ascend to find Willow and Rumple, all of whom recount their recent trials they just overcame   At this time, Willow notices that souls are no longer rising from the bottom of the tower, which she is unsure of whether that is a good thing or a bad sign   The whole crew go upwards towards the next room, which appears to be a greenhouse of some sort, with a steady-eyed staff sitting in a desk chair   As the staff floats in the air, it grows massive and splits into three alien bodies, those being a Star Spawn Seer, Star Spawn Hulk, and a Beholder   Before they all square up, Harvoni throws a smokescreen into the side of the room, disabling many of the Beholder's abilities immediately   A short battle rages on, as spells fly from Harvoni and Willow, Rumple goes in for deadly sneak attacks from the fog while Diaga completely invalidates whatever's in front of her with her Misimi Morningstar   After quickly dispatching the Star Spawn Hulk, Diaga smashes in the Seer soon after, leaving just the Beholder on a beeline towards the room's East side   Diaga uses quite possibly the best Action Surge I have ever seen, hitting the Beholder and completely invalidating its abilities thanks to the effects of Misimi Bronze   After surrendering to the completely unwinnable scenario, the Beholder lets Diaga and company know more details about the tower, and specifically Ondska's plan   It leads them up to a chamber full of pipes, where Ondska, filled with tubes throughout his body, can be seen constantly morphing into different humanoids   The Beholder lets them know that Ondska has been absorbing the thousands of souls of the city and beyond to charge himself up for the ride home, and is using the Fatasma Dynamo to do exactly that   Ondska will not speak of whatever he had learned from the stars, and has kept that secret for his entire immortal life on Aekko   Supposedly, Ondska's ship is located beneath their feet, however this chamber is completely inaccessible by nearly any means necessary.  Their next best bet is to weaken the man himself.   As Ondska's staff begins to explain their options to weaken its master, we take our second-last session to its closing...
