USPS Session 27: Leyndar, the Kavios Chainsaw Massacre Report

General Summary

After the cliffhanger of the previous session, we pick up right where we left off as Willow, feeling envigored from the intense situation which Ondska had just rescued her from, goes to do some shopping during the Yalalt Celebration's remaining few hours
Willow hits up the potions shop to grab a few Soulbond potions, and cashes large amounts of gold at Laer's to enchant her Rifle with the Lightning Arrow spell embuement
Harvoni meanwhile enchants her handgun to be able to fire railgun rounds with the rest of her gold
As Willow makes up her mind on what else to enchant, she ends up coming to the consensus that another high-level spell imbuement would work perfectly, however she finds herself short on gold
Instructing Laer to put the order through anyways, Willow thinks of a way she might be able to earn a few extra bucks by when it would be ready the next morning, and does her usual busking business
Though busking does not appear to be nearly fruitful enough, as Willow is still short almost 10 gold pieces, she heads to the bar where Rumple is currently passed-out for a more lucrative business
Willow hits on the bartender, and with perfected rizz, convinces the man to sleep with her for whatever price she names
Willow manages to squeeze 25 gold pieces out of the rich bartender, and after all fades to black, she is very proud of her work
The rest of the party, after deciding that they would attend Leyndar's New Worker Orientation the next morning, the group all headed back to Anchorville to take their rest
During some downtime and the group's long rest, Harvoni reverse engineers both the Medicinal Tincture Potion recipe and the Health Potion recipe, meanwhile Diaga figures out how to craft a Bee Jar from some experimentation
In the middle of the night, Diaga has one final dream regarding her bear spirit:
Diaga's dream self astral projects out of her body until she is way in the clouds, and is greeted by the bear woman with piercing golden eyes
The bear's visage then fades as she reveals herself to be Yrsga, the woman whom died in Diaga's arms on their first day in the Vomethndan battlefield
Yrsga reveals that beneath the Earth, deep in a room of the Leyndar Mining Company's building closest to The Hollow, lies her family's ancient burial ground
Yrsga begs Diaga to let her come to peace, but also reflects on their journey thus far, being very proud of all the decisions Diaga has made and all the growth she has seen in such a short time
Ending off their conversation, Yrsga allows Diaga to rest, but mentions that "though that [burial ground] room may try to terrify you, there is nothing to be afraid of"
Heading back to Laer's after a night at the local hotel, Willow goes to claim on her previous day's order
Willow manages to purchase a lvl 3 Spell Imbuement for her fruity-sap armor, allowing her to cast Daylight once per long rest
The USPS then descend on the Leyndar Mining Company, where outside they see a large line of budding interns and new hires chomping at the bit on their first day
As the USPS, are guised as former-dancers named "Haveni Boda", "Smeaga", and "Krystal Fantasia", who all want an actual job after turning from their previous jobs
Alongside much more-regular new hires, they make it through the entrance gate when they are greeted by their somewhat sassy Giff tour guide name Biel
Biel instructs the new hires to discard their volatile equipment which they will receive after the tour and proceed through the Danger Detectors, pieces of equipment which can seemingly detect when the party and anyone going through them have gear which may pose a threat to Leyndar
Diaga, Harvoni, and Willow all put their gear to the side, meanwhile Roger and Rumple intimidate their way past the guards without discarding their gear and without starting a fight!
As Biel leads the group through the halls of Leyndar, he introduces the USPS and the other new hires to the cramped office space which Biel calls "lively and efficient"
Biel, seemingly high on corporate greed and copium, praises the company's short-to-no-breaks policy and their limits on cubicle accessorising, meanwhile the party notice signs that the company might have as beefy of a security system as Ondska had previously warned
After Biel asks a couple of important questions about company history, including how it was founded, when, and why, the party split off and do their own things separate from the tour
Diaga sneaks into an open office and begins rummaging through an executive's desk, as she sees a golden hair sticking out of the bottom of it
Sensing something suspicious, Diaga pulls the false bottom of the desk right off and reveals 3 gold worth of golden valuables hidden in the desk
Just as Diaga is just about to leave the room, however, she is stopped by a Tiger Leonin named Tyra who appears to be the company's vice president. Apparently Diaga stumbled into someone very important's office...
Deflecting the situation entirely, Diaga praises the VP and distracts him enough to get around him and back on track with the rest of the group, though at the same time she earns his trust enough to also get invited out to his hunting club after work
The USPS then all head down to the company library where tons of various books lie around a slew of company records and business books
Roger makes it to the library first and begins randomly rearranging the books, to which the rest of the crew begin to pick out a few:
Rumple first picks a book about Fianetain aircrafts, and upon flipping through its awfully-detailed pages, makes a note that seemingly these aircraft may have been fueled by giant now-extinct birds, not a mechanical/arcanical power source
Harvoni then picks up a journal containing various early tests on mystek technologies from nearly 100 years ago, including a mystek-pressurized diving suit, as well as early rifles/muskets, all of which were considered failed tests
Something catches Harvoni's eye, however, as she flips through the pages; Spotting the journal logged by a certain "Ondska Stjarnman", she doesn't get the time to read the entry before she pockets the book for later use
Diaga picks up a comedy book which she finds absolutely hilarious, but nobody else does. She is stupefied for a few minutes...
After the party all meet up, they go back to the tour where Biel takes them to the company floor and shows them the means of production
Biel reveals the history of Heimskul Industries, claiming that Leyndar had "absorbed what was left of the company, righted their wrongs, and are carrying their legacy forward" as the party went around literally siezing the means of production
As Biel blabbered on about company history, Roger and Rumple made short work of the massive piles of raw materials (including fantasma crystals and various rare metals) and gained large amounts of each before they set their eyes on the elevator in the room's Northwest section
Creating a distraction for the rest of the group, Willow as "Krystal Fantasia" plays a rowdy tune on her viol which gets all the workers on the floor to stop their working and dance and sing along instead
Biel is absolutely outraged by what he sees, and the commotion along with "Krystal's" flawless playing allows everyone else to slip a few more materials in their pockets, and then slip onto the elevator completely undetected
The USPS descend down to the basement, which they heard earlier from Biel was currently uninhabitable due to the security system being active
This does not deter our mailmen and women, as they exit the elevator to see a folley of differently-colored crystals in a seemingly random array
The party quickly find out that each crystal moves in unique ways and destory one another, and as they carve their way through a long hallway and towards a laboratory and a vault supposedly at its end, they come across a set of doors
On the left, they reveal the way to a room called the "Power Room", and on the right they reveal the "Storage Supply"
The right room contains a whole slew parts from seemingly the same jet-white creature, though they find plenty of different high quality tailsm teeth, etc.  They note that these parts are oddly human-like, but certainly aren't from humans
The left room seems to be a long open chamber with a 10ft-diameter hole at its end, which opened into a jet-black void
On the chamber's sides seem to be 10-ft-square metal blocks with glass centers.  As the party peer into the glass, they don't seem to see anything inside
Except for Harvoni, Harvoni sees a terrified shaking skeleton-skinny jet-white humanoid creature hunched over until it seemingly notices Harvoni
As the creature notices Harvoni, it runs up to the glass to reveal it has no facial features at all, and as it begins to bang on the glass in a frantic manner it begins to scream despite having no orrifice to do such from
Harvoni then uses Wither and Bloom and takes the poor ungodly creature out of its misery, all the while others of its kind show their blank faces all around the chamber's cells
Harvoni notes that some of these creatures seem to be being zapped by some sort of mystek device in the center of their cells, but is too busy taking them out to care
All this goes completely unseen by Diaga, who feels Yrsga's voice project from somewhere to the side of her, as she envisions Yrsga's dark visage almost materializing next to her
Yrsga mentions that the only way for Diaga to sever the tie between them is for Diaga to meditate in front of the hole and focus on that separation
As Diaga waits in silence, she begins envisioning people completely unfamiliar to her, but very familiar to Yrsga, as her parents crawl from the hole to join her side and thank Diaga for all her hard work getting here
For the next 10 minutes or so, Diaga focuses on Yrsga and cutting the tie that binds, envisioning hundreds to thousands of people who all materialize inside her head.  Initially these people appear to be direct relatives of Yrsga, but some appear so foreign and so ancient that she wonders if they all are really related
As Diaga feels that no more "relatives" will emerge from the hole, Yrsga thanks Diaga once more for her spent time and effort, and rewards her with a green quintessence which she produces from her soul, something that even the rest of the USPS (including Willow who has now joined them) can see materialize
Yrsga bids Diaga a final farewell as she and her people descend back into the hole peacefully
The rest of the USPS see this differently, however, as the black hole swallows the now-materialized black shadow of Yrsga in a horrifying fashion as she desparately tries to crawl out before becoming completely motionless
With some sort of newfound power in herself, Diaga presses forward to obtain the Fantasma Dynamo from the vault in the next room and finally escape Leyndar
As the crew enter the lab, they notice another endlessly complicated crystal array which lends to another puzzle
Clearing some of the crystals away, the party earn a few bonus scrolls from a nearby chest, as well as a bonus crystal to help clear the wway
With a little bit of help from 2 bonus crystals, they destroy all the crystals blocking them from entering the vault, and are able to enter it
The vault is surprisingly empty save for a man-made archway missing a keystone but with complicated runes etched along its remaining stones, as well as few small unreleased inventions, and the Fantasma Dynamo sitting on a mannequin
The USPS then take the human-shaped device before bolting out of the vault and heading back to the Leyndar entrance, intent on taking the device back to Ondska upon their exit...
