Lines Drawn In the Sand Detour: Gone Sarkas Gone Report
General Summary
As the IRS and USPS reconvene at a bronze platform on the monolithic tower which continues to rise further into the heavens, trading recipes and items with one another, Nessa feels a side quest is in order
Nessa expresses her concerns about her missing father to Willow, but believes he is close enough to the city that they may be able to rescue him
Willow takes this a no-brainer moment to help her best friend, and the two agree to leave the city for a short rescue mission
Cal and Harvoni both offer their help, but the girls seem pretty capable and competent about this diversion. Before they go back to their crafting and trading, they agree to meet at some sort of meeting spot, to be determined later...
As the two of them theorize a way to make it back to the mainland (Anchorville), they begin tightrope-walking on a huge wire which used to once hold up the Sokkeyja District, which ends up snapping beneath Nessa's hooves
Thankfully, the two of them prepare an easy escape route, Dimension Door-ing themselves back to the copper platform
Kharaal pokes a little fun at the two of them, and since Willow does not want to use spell slots to make it back to Anchorville, Kharaal offers his bat to take the two of them to Anchorville instead
As the two ride atop their majestic white steed, they get a good view of the huge pit to The Hollow, but more importantly, of the remains of the edges of Anchorville...
As Willow takes a good look below, she notices that there are tons of citizens' bodies laying in the streets, completely devoid of life, but also seemingly starvingly-skinny
Nessa at this same time is shocked to feel a complete void of magic in the area as well, strange
The two of them land past the devastation where they are greeted by a Kula's Surveyor who asks "How the hell they survived", to which the girls reply that they are "Just built different"
Past that, they begin questioning the random man who mentions that shortly after the Sokkeyja District collapsed into The Hollow, that a strange blue light appeared above the pit
The blue light was then followed by a massive green light which hung over the central part of the city, wherein hundreds of living people would just drop dead, almost like they all simltaneously had a heart attack
The girls acknowledge the horrifying image, but before they dwell on it too much, a Surveyor familiar with Willow walks up and lets her know that they are ready to deliver her reward for all their help
As Nessa and Willow talk about their adventures, they make it around a street corner where the Surveyor reveals their reward to be an all new Cultipacker Mark IV with advance power steering, 4x4 wheel drive, etc...
The girls absolutely take the "gift" (seized from the military) along with a couple of different installable drives for the vehicle, and just as they're about to set out, the Surveyor lets them know that they may also pick up some supplies at a tent on their way out
Before the girls head towards this tent and subsequently to the city gates, Willow does her best impression of Cal saying "When you get back, we'll do everything together. Everywhere", which gets Nessa all sorts of flustered. She's even more flustered when she remembers the Surveyor is still behind them
The girls then install the Cultipacker's speed mod, which turns the vehicle into a speeding bullet
They then rush for the supply tent they were told about, wherein a group of Surveyors stand guard in front of the supplies, but upon seeing the vehicle, they give them passage to freely choose from the supplies
The Surveyors also hands Willow a Long Rest Potion which a certain shopkeep said to get to Harvoni and her friends
From the supplies, Willow snags a Sonar Beacon and a Helpful Whispers arcsthetic, the latter of which she immediately installs thanks to a hotfix technomancer who sells her a Feylike Ear for 6 Gold. Lastly, she snags some Arcane Turrets
Nessa grabs some Transponders, a Short Rest Potion, and a set of Flashbangs
As the two load up the car with their new gear, Nessa almost sees a blue shadow behind Willow, but turns to find nobody else there but her friend
The two set off from the outskirts of the city before stopping at Gryti Rail Station, where they figure out how the tracks are set up and where they split off to the different cities to the North
Conveniently, at the same, Nessa witnesses a huge purple explosion which shakes the Rasktog her father is supposedly kept in, and follows the purple explosion as she sees it miles away
As the two drive onwards, Nessa complains that "Farma is usually the one that drives", but drives flawlessly weaving around militia in their fancy military vehicle
The two make it to a field of craters, which Nessa and Willow debate about how exactly to navigate
They head around a shallow pit which seemingly has a shiny object in it. Willow reaches out with the Cultipacker's arms to grab a +3 Twisted Misimi Bronze Handaxe
Next, sitting between them and the edge of this dangerous stretch of terrain are four smaller craters
Nessa chooses the Northern one, and as the Cultipacker is seemingly pulled towards its center, she revs the engine to Willow's encouraging action music, enough to break through to the other side
As the two make it through the last of the dangerous terrain, they see the Rasktog way off in the distance, and this time it is charging nearly full-speed ahead towards Kavios
The two activate the vehicle's cloaking mod, which shrinks the Cultipacker and quiets it greatly, and they head off towards the Rasktog
As they sidle up next to the train, they notice it is slowing down gradually, and they take this as an opportunity to hop on top of the Rasktog and abandon their vehicle entirely
As the roaring Rasktog inches further to its battlfield destination, Willow comes face-to-face with a masked Shuudanchiid, the last of the three who has been sent after her
As they have an epic swordfight, Nessa sneaks by to rescue her dad, whom she finds in the enginer room alongside tons of other Promatican nobles
Willow effortlessly dispatches the Shuudanchiid, and appears to do so because of the help of a blue hand, that hand belonging to a... ghostly Brynhil!?
Brynhil's lucid spirit speaks to Willow, saying how proud she is of taking hand of her own destiny, something she wishes she had done herself during life
Nessa and Willow then talk with a very proud Maxim Sarkas, whom is happily bewildered by Nessa rescuing him
Maxim snaps out of his elation and worriedly asks about the rest of the Sarkas family, whom Nessa assures is safe despite the hardships they suffered at the hands of these Shuudanchiid
As Maxim gives Nessa some huge hugs, he lets Willow in on one, saying "You're basically family at this point"
As the terrific twosome ride back to Kavios on the Rasktog, they begin their trip back to the tower which is so tall at this point, it feels like it's almost reaching space
The two find their way back to the copper platform somehow as a blue light shines atop the monoliths apex...
