Blackstone
"...I beleive that these bricks are grown out of the ground in this country. They are so abundant in construction that I could take a hammer to any building and find that it is made of blackstone..."
Properties
Material Characteristics
Blackstone is a style of brick made up of leftover slag and soot from the factories in Dásofum. The color of the bricks depends on its makeup, with darker bricks containing more slag then lighter ones. The size can vary depending on the need they are made for, with brick coming as large as 12x12x12 feet and as small as 2X2X.25 inch tablets.
History & Usage
Discovery
The discovery of blackstone came from a need to reduce the amount of pollution created by the industrial centers of Promaticous. Dásofum itself was producing 12 million tons of byproduct a year from all of its factories. One day after a heavy rain a factory worker found that the soot buildup around the building had a clay like texture and took it upon themselves to attempt to create a brick out of it. After many iterations the blackstone as its known now was created and produced my most major factories.
Everyday use
Blackstone often replaces traditional fired clay or concrete bricks in the nation of Promaticous. The dubious amount of ash and soot generated by the factories in Dásofum and the forges of Mercommernaut are used to make these bricks. These bricks are used in many basic constructions from roads to buildings. The material can also be shaped into useful objects like dishware and pottery because of its clay-like consistency before the firing process.
Industrial Use
Many forges and refineries are made of blackstone due to its durability and relative cheapness. Since the bricks are made of the remnants of fired material, they have a natural resistance to extreme temperatures.
