Kymraa the Dark Maven is the divine goddess of death, winter, fate, and inevitability. She is often characterized as a unfeeling and cold figure. Less of a personality and more of a divine force. She is death, and death is she.
Kymraa is often portrayed as a tall pale figure draped in black clothing. Her cloak and cape seemingly fade into the shadows that often surround her, leaving her porcelain-like white mask as the only thing to signal that a figure exists there.
Being such a macabre figure, the Dark Maven is likely one of the least worshipped Deities of the Elysians. She is instead seen as a grim warning to mortals to enjoy the short life they've been given. The common person would give prayer to Kymraa in hopes that she takes pity on them, and holds on to their strand of fate for a little bit longer. True acolytes of the Dark Maven, however, are often unseen figures for good. They seek out the truly rotten of the world, those who seek to control fate, avoid death, and make inevitability less inevitable. Whether it be for good or evil purpose, it makes no difference to this goddess, as no one should have the power of life and death. Due to all this, very few temples to Kymraa are recorded to exist.
Popular Myths
Kymraa's myth of ascension is a often debated and controversial one. Unlike the other ascended mortals who were gifted divinity, earned divinity, or somehow found a loophole to divinity, Kymraa is said to have taken divinity by force. By defeating the former god of death, Kymraa took his throne and planted herself as the ruler of his domain. This is why myths credit there being twelve creator Deities, and only eleven stand to this day. Not much is known about how the other Elysians feel about a former partner being killed and replaced, but it is safe to say that they have kept a closer guard on their domains from that day forward.
History With Other Deities
For some reason or another, Kymraa has a very tense relationship with
Odarr the Daybreak. Odarr seems to have the most disdain towards Kymraa compared to the other Elysians. Many have speculated as to why. Theories include the Daybreak being very close to the former Deity of death, and since Kymraa took his place, he hates her for it. Another theory is that Kymraa originally wanted to take the place of Odarr and become the new Deity of the sun, but couldn't and instead chose to take the domain of death. Regardless of the reason, their rivalry goes all the way down to their respective temples, who rarely get along unless the circumstances are dire.
The Dark Maven and her followers have dedicated themselves to eradicating
Vystos the Undying One and his acolytes. As the Deity of undeath, his domain goes against the natural order of life. As such, he has gained the attention of Kymraa, who sees Vystos as a dangerous foe and implores all her followers to destroy any undead they come across.
