Kasyn the Luckeeper (/kas-in/)

An Elysian and one of the original twelve creators

Profile and Followers

Kasyn the Luckeeper is the divine goddess of travel, change, luck, potential, and commerce. She is often characterized as a free spirit, willing to chase the call to adventure anywhere, and carve a path for her acolytes to follow.   Kasyn is often depicted as a young woman with beautiful dark skin and curly black hair. Often times her long robes fall and become the very roads her followers use to walk upon the land.   The followers of the Luckeeper are often trailblazers and adventurers, merchants and free spirits, or the down-trodden praying for their lucky day. Due to this nature, there are very few temples dedicated to Kasyn. The temples that do exist are often found on a well traveled road, or act as a checkpoint on a very difficult journey. Despite the few temples, Kasyn is a widely regarded goddess, with countless tavern-goers cheering her name for good fortune.

Popular Myths

A widely known myth is that in the Era of Demiurge, Kasyn and a group of her followers climbed the tallest mountain in the region. Upon the top of the mountain she found a single four-leaf clover. Entertained by this tiny plant, she gifted it to her most devout acolyte, who then set it once again in a place only known to him and Kasyn. To this day this clover has yet to be found, but Luckeeper followers everywhere see the symbol of a four-leaf clover as a sign of good luck.

History With Other Deities

The Luckeeper's strongest friendship is the one she has with Varaura the Eternalight. As good natured people, they both loved helping people, whether they were acolytes or not. While Varaura could heal any injury and mend any wound, she often found it difficult to find the people who needed the most healing. That led to her growing a bond with Kasyn, as she could travel the world and find anyone who needed help, but didn't always have the means to help them. Together they formed a great team, with Kasyn paving the roads to far off lands, and Varaura helping and guiding all who they came across.

The Chthonic who Kasyn despises the most of all, is Xutar the Anguish King. As the Deity of subjection and enslavement, it represents everything that Kasyn hates. Where she seeks to free all who walk on the land or swim in the seas, Xutar seeks to enslave all and have all creatures under his will. Xutar now lies in its prison, waiting for its release to reign again, and still having nightmares of the Luckeeper, who was the one who put him in his place.

Similarly to the Anguish King, Nyslene the Blood Scourge is another Chthonic who Kasyn holds with deep disdain. Although it is not as direct as enslavement, conquest is still a domain that directly conflicts with the Luckeeper. Her attention has always been on the abhorrent alien that is Xutar, but the cold, unfeeling, and cruel humanoid mind of Nyslene is a close second.
Commandments of the Luckeeper
  • Luck favors the bold. Your fate is your own to grasp, and to do so is to have the Luckeeper behind you.

  • Change is inevitable. The righteous can ensure that such change is for the better.

  • Rise up against tyranny. Fight for the freedom of yourself and others when you can, and inspire others to fight when you cannot.
