Profile and Followers

Varaura the Eternalight is the divine goddess of redemption, temperance, and atonement. She is often characterized as the most compassionate of all the Deities, empathizing with every mortal soul, shedding a tear with every plight and smiling with every blessing.
Varaura is depicted as a woman bathed in divine radiant light. She takes the form of an angel, with multiple beautiful feathered wings and an ornate headdress. Some depictions go as far as having her headdress cover her eyes, showing that her compassion and love have no favorites, and she is unbiased in what she does for others.
The followers of the Eternalight are typically clerics or paladins. As a promise to her, they walk the realm in an attempt to heal the broken, lead the lost, and bring light to the darkest corners. Devout acolytes of Varaura will be the most compassionate individuals one could meet. It does matter if they are loyal to a god, to a kingdom, to a cause, or to nothing at all, her followers attempt to help in any way they can. Temples to Varaura often double as infirmaries to the sick or injured, or have sages who offer advice and council to those seeking redemption.
Finally, the most rare follower of Varaura, is the individual who seeks atonement by themselves. This is often the hardest path to walk, as it is up to the person alone to redeem themselves for their past crimes. Yet those who complete this journey to completion always have a special place in the arms of the Eternalight.

Popular Myths

Acolytes of the Eternalight speak stories as to how she became the first Deity to ever share her power with her followers. Gods gain power from their acolytes' worship, and in turn the gods gift power to their most devout acolytes. This was not always the case, as prior to Varaura, the gods simply kept the power of prayer and did not gift it back. She is rumored to have been the one to break the mold. Gifting a mortal follower of hers the power to heal their hurt ally, she was the cause of the very first divine spell.

History With Other Deities

Varaura has a very complicated and complex history with one Deity in particular. They both love each other, and despise each other above anything else. This Deity is the Chthonic god, Diox the Lord of the Ninth. Before the Divinity Strife, Varaura and Diox were said to be in love. She'd always see the best in him, and he'd always be cunning enough to protect her pure heart from being taken advantage of. Though once the conflict between the Deities began, and push came to shove, Diox showed his true colors. Varaura held out hope that she could redeem him, but as history shows, this hope became futile. She was the one to finally put him away in his prison, forever severing their connection. Diox sees this act as a betrayal, as he thought their love could withstand all. Varaura saw this as a betrayal ever since Diox decided to fight the pantheon he was once a part of.
