Diox the Lord of the Ninth is the sacrilege god of tyranny, dominion, and pride. He is often characterized as a silver tongued deceiver, using honeyed words and promises to get what he wants. Once he has what he wants, it is impossible to get it back, as he relishes in holding power over others, and punishes those who go against his iron fist.
Diox is depicted in a number of ways. These may range from a figure covered in black flames, a handsome devil with perfect qualities, along with deep red skin, dark black hair and two massive horns rising from his head. The Lord of the Ninth deliberately chooses how he appears from creature to creature, in the best attempt to strike either fear or security.
Being an outlawed Deity, worship of Diox is never done in public. Those who worship him are the devils directly under his command, warlocks who see him as their patron, and cultists attempting to complete rituals and magic under his name. Out of all the Chthonic, Diox is likely the one who sees the most worship throughout the realm. Due to his charming words and deceiving nature, many followers do not even realize they are worshipping a Chthonic until it is too late. Temples to this Deity are never recorded in maps, sanctified in cities, or found alongside well traveled roads. If one were to find a temple, it would be in a place unknown to most, and accessible to only the devout of this fiendish god.
Commandments of the Lord of the Ninth
- Assert dominance and power over others. Show your strength of will in the image of your Lord.
- Repay cruelty done unto you with further evil. If others show you kindness, exploit it.
- As you ascend to power, do not pity or show mercy to those you climb over to get there. The weak do not warrant your compassion—compassion itself is a weakness.
