Profile and Followers
Ezstus the Stormcrown is the divine god of storms, power, and warfare. He is often characterized as both a raging fury who's spirit shapes the battlefield, and a calming figure who encourages his followers to keep pushing forward.
Ezstus is depicted as a physically large man with long hair and beard. The edges of his hair become the clouds in the sky, as he watches over his domain and those who live under it.
Followers of the Stormcrown tend to be the most powerful and dedicated warriors. Having an acolyte of the Stormcrown on your side can mean reassurance for your troops, and fear for your enemies. Others who worship Ezstus can range from sailors who pray for clear skies, to druids who have a kinship with the fury of storms. Temples to this Deity are quite different than those for other Elysians. Temples to Ezstus are often places to train one's physical prowess, and also tend to host a series of challenges to test warriors. Be it accuracy testing, weapon or hand combat, to brawling one another, acolytes of the Stormcrown are always working on improving themselves.
Popular Myths
The Stormcrown's most famous myth is that of the Crown's Axe. It is said that as the Divine Barrier was forming, and all Deities would forever leave Aedar, as a last act of power Ezstus launched his axe down, splitting the ground where it landed. The Crown's Axe had been used in every battle Ezstus fought in, and was considered among the strongest of all holy weapons. It is rumored that only a true avatar of the Stormcrown, one who embodies every ideal set by Ezstus, is able to wield the Crown's Axe. Because of the lofty requirement, no one has been able to lift the axe, and it remains in the same place where Ezstus left it all those years ago, waiting for its next master.
History With Other Deities
Ezstus' best ally is
Runaldir the Soul Forge. Their friendship is similar to that of soldiers, where they see each other as brothers in arms. In nearly every war where Ezstus shook the battlefield, Runaldir was not far behind with his own legendary might. It is even rumored that Ezstus' mightiest weapon, the Crown Axe, was crafted by the Soul Forge himself, as a symbol of their camaraderie.
Despite both being Elysians, Ezstus holds a strange rivalry with
Zamudra the Depth Queen. Having such similar domains inevitably makes them rivals, as some mortals do not know to which Deity they should be sending their prayers to. The most common of these are sailors. While many sailors pray to Zamudra for calm waters, just as many sailors pray to Ezstus for clear skies. Although they have managed to remain civil between themselves, the two Deities have such large and powerful personalities that they have remained rivals.
History has shown that the Stormcrown's greatest enemy is
Nyslene the Blood Scourge. As the goddess of conquest, Nyslene was the only Chthonic who could match Ezstus when it came to pure combat. As her armor was the only thing that could withstand the Crown's Axe, and as his power was the only thing that could withstand her crushing dread, their clash seemed meant to be. It is thanks to Ezstus that the Blood Scourge is imprisoned to this day.
