Komadra Class Battleship
Entering production later in the Twelve Years War, these famous ships ended up participating in the Death Persuit of the Kalvacros and became the poster ship for the Nydonian navy, seeing action in conflicts after the Twelve Years War had ended as well.
Weapons & Armament
3 formidable 18” triple barreled guns serve as the main armament for this ships, with 2 front facing cannons and on facing the rear. 6 8” guns, 3 on each side, can utilize their double barrels to deal with smaller and up close threats. 2 7” guns located near the torpedo tubes at the aft serve a similar purpose. The 2” guns scattered all over the ship and its superstructure pose a great threat to any aircraft trying to bring down one of these mighty vessels, and 2 5 tube 22” torpedo launchers at the aft of the ship pose a similar threat to other vessels, 2 more underwater tubes located in the near direct middle of the ship added to the destructive capabilities.
Armor and defense
A main and aft belt of 16" helps protect the ship's engines and torpedo storage, with a 14.2" fore belt with a torpedo resistant hull and tripple bulkheads within. The roughly 12" main deck armor goes down to a little over half that on the bow and stern.
Sensors
The Komadra was equiped with thr newest sonar and radar equipment that could be accessed at the time, which served the ships well until they were upgraded with the invention of new technologies down the road.
Versions
Shortly after the Twelve Years War as the use of naval missiles began to become commonplace, it became clear that in thr future battleships would need serious changes to their design philosphy to stay relevant. Because of this, plans were drafted up and then actually executed in the early 1970s to convert Komadra class battleships to be able to launch guided missiles. The B and C turrets were removed and replaced along with their magazines being vertical launch guided missile tubes, with a fully upgraded modern sensor and radar suite to match. In addition, the read torpedo tubes were replaced with anti-air missiles, and the 2" anti air guns were replaced with CRAM rotary cannons for missile defense. These two upgraded "Komadra IIs" saw action in The Second Drought War, where one was eventually destroyed by enemy fire.
