Solarian, the Star-blade Item in Adventures in Valerick TTRPG | World Anvil

Solarian, the Star-blade

Forged in the deepest secrecy between the leaders of the Children of the Ascended at the time, and agents of the newfound orders of the Magisterium, enchanted by Elysia Tel'ni'vairi herself in unity with her sister of spirit, Alexandria Noria, the first Arch-Magister of the Ruby Order, Vienna Fieldsworn, the first Arch-Magister of the Diamond Order, and Voris Hurdihelm, the first Arch-Magister of the Topaz Order. These four magisters wove the magicks upon the star metal provided by the Children of the Ascended, creating an object bound to the seat of Nightvale, bound to the nine faiths, and bound to keep balance, for only Magisters would be able to authenticate the weapon. A zweihander of the rarest balance, lighter than most short swords, yet with the flex of the finest of today's steels, and the edge retention to match and exceed. A blade so magnificent that it would only appear in times of true need, and could only be wielded by a woman, one chosen of blood, older than the Ascended themselves, one who's essence is most directly tied to that of the Creation herself, to Mother of all Things. Only at the times leading to an Abyssal Surge, only when the Void would truly begin pushing again, when true unity may become necessary, would fate deign to make a choice. Such was the contribution of the Diamond Order. The sword would sleep, would disappear into the Aether after being buried with the last Empress appointed to the Holy Seat, and only reappear if needed.

Such complex magicks woven, it is said the enchantments gifted cost Vienna her life. Yet it was a gift she gave unto the cause willingly. Next, drawing upon the spiritual essence of Vienna and adding her own, Alexandria blessed the metal of Solarian with the heat and radiance of the very sun itself, the fury of a start, but only if the blade sensed creatures from the Void, from the realm of Nightmares. Burned into the metal, metal so tough diamonds could not scratch it, are the symbols of hunting, of fury, of passion, of fire. These gifts Alexandria gave willingly, imbuing her own essence unto the blade.

Next came Elysia, imbuing her own life force into the steel, the hilt, providing her own vitality, Nature's finest gift, her own ferocity, her own animal swiftness, learned from centuries of guerilla warfare, and of hunting and surviving off the land. All these gifts she imbued into the blade, only accessible to the bonded, to the chosen by her sister magister Vienna's magicks. So much did Elysia give to these enchantments, that she too, sacrificed her life.

Finally came Voris, and his gift, the gift of stone, was the final gift. He imbued all the durability and strength of the mountains into the blade, and into the hilt, imbued them into the very handgrip of the blade, a transference enchantment, a protective warding of mastery beyond even the finest runecrafters today, meant to insure she who would wield this blade, and the weapon itself, could never be victim of the taint of the Void or the corrupt creatures from that fell realm. Voris was the only of the four whom did not pour his very life into the blade, as it was deigned his duty to start the Spirit seal gifted unto it by Vienna, to seek out and find that first woman whom would take the seat. He was young for a dwarf, not quite 200 years of age, and thus had the time, and if not, he would entrust the duty to the next Arch-Magister of the Topaz Order.

Blade Profile for Adventures in Valerick TTRPG

Show spoiler
To would be GMs this weapon becoming property of a PC at any point that is not the end of that player character's involvement in the story arch can be game breaking, unless extremely high level play. However you can contain that fact perhaps, by making it a scaling weapon, one that requires the wielder grow and strengthen to unlock facets of it, or something like that, if you so wish. Basically be very careful how you utilize this if you intend to have it make an appearance in your campaigns, as it is exceedingly potent.

Significance

This item is bonded in a complex fashion. The magiciks within it are meant to hide it, as it travels the Aether more as a unified conceptualization in energy form, until it is called to reality by the surging of the Void. Then it will return, after seeking out the energy and guidance of the eternal spirits, being guided to a region of Valerick from whence, when it is needed, it well be discovered and given the chance to be found by the correct woman, the one who is of the blood and spirit of the Mother of All Things. It is the only way anyone can ascend the Holy Seat, and unify fully the nine temples to one banner, the only method in which anything resembling a crusade could be called again, and by the enchantments within the blade itself, such a crusade could only be called against another Scourge, another Sundering type event.
