Embeather {Eh-mm-b-eh-th-eh-r}

They are beings of the radiance, of sunfire given form. They bring passion, offer illumination, light to pierce the darkness, wisdom beyond one's own. Embeathers are Vosana's youngest, her chosen children of light, carrying the seeds of her gifts with them whereever they go, even when they are brought beyond their own Celestial Realm, Horizolar. The great sunswept plains of that realm, where dawn and daylight never fade, end or cease, is their home and they carry it, a small part, within them whereever they may be.

A small description of Embeather's from tome titled In Solar's Service, a holy and historical text within the faith of Vosana Falconhand.

Basic Information

Anatomy

As with most celestial creatures, their anatomy can only really be appropriately discussed when they manifest upon Valerick under the prime rules of reality as we know them. These are creatures of radiance and sunfire, not amorpheus and part of a larger whole as much in the Celestial Realms oft is. However when they find their way across the Aether and into the fold of reality, Embeather's manifest as a sort of falcon or hawk in size and shape. The body though seems less a solid and more almost a mass of solar radiance, almost blinding, its heat tactile, something you can feel even from distance. Its feathers seem almost as if crystalized sunfire, brilliant oranges and golds, dazzling plumage. Their eyes a deep red, with talons and beak of the deepest solar gold. Majestic creatures, these small celestials, majestic and luminescent.

Genetics and Reproduction

Very little is known about this, or any celestial entities of the Realm of Horizolar when it comes to genetics or reproduction. There is some belief that particularly devout followers of the Vosana may very well become such creatures when they pass, a common belief across all the Ascended, however this is but belief, with no known evidence to confirm it. The creatures themselves, though intelligent and even capable of speech, oft in more than one language, seem to possess no will or desire to share.

Ecology and Habitats

Horizolar is said to be a sort of grassland or prairie where though it experiences seasons and weather like we might imagine, the sun never sets or fades. A blizzard might be raging, yet it shall be bright and sunlit. The sun does not set on Horizolar, merely going through its arc, east to west, kissing the horizon before reversing direction again.

As one might expect then, it would seem Embeather's as with most any celestial creature from Horizolar, is adapted to the light, to living under its scrutinizing luminosity. They are not well adapted at all for darkness or shadows of any kind, and would in fact be at risk under such conditions. It would seem something in their biology makes darkness, that is the absence of light, so shadows, nightfall, etc, hostile and otherwise punishing to them. They will quickly seem dazed, confused, at a loss as to what is happening around them, as well as being notably sluggish.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It is believed that perhaps, as creatures of luminsence, they subsist simply off light and heat from the sun, fires and other such sources when upon the Material Realm. This hypothesis would seem to align with how they react to flames, fire and sudden bursts of radiant energy.

Behaviour

Embeather's are excitable and radiant creatures with a sharpness of mind to match. They seek to make friends and bond with other like-minded creatures both upon their home plane and whenever upon another. They have a strong problem-solving mind, enjoying puzzles and quandries greatly, finding great companionship in other creatures or peoples of a similar mind

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

Embeather's are noticeably intelligent, capable of speaking two or more languages often, and always at least fluent in Valarian. They are sharp of mind, and as noted, seem to greatly enjoy puzzles and problem solving, almost as a form of something that could pass as play and as a sort of bonding.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have a seemingly innate sixth sense for those whom carry the spark of the Sun Goddess' power, the gift of her valor and wisdom, able to pick those individuals out from distance. Beyond this, their mundane senses, particularly eyesight and hearing, are immense. All encompassing. They seem to show an awareness to the world around them most could only wish to possess.
Scientific Name

34-58 cms (13"-23") when they manifest in a physical form upon Valerick, with a wingspan of 74-120 cms (29"-47")
Average Physique
When manifesting on Valerick or a similar plane, they seem to take their form and shape from a falcon or hawk, some sort of swift hunter of the daytime skies, and though their colors as noted do not fit or look at all like such animals patterns, their body shape and layout will match.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
A pure almost white-gold radiance dominates their shape, almost blinding, blending and shading the oranges and golds of their plummage, their ember red eyes, and their pure gold talons and beak.
