Dunes of Sirdull

The Gnomes of Adulla call the Dunes home. This city-state is the capital of innovation and science in Adulla. The gnomes are renowned for harnessing the powers of the chosen into items for both everyday use and rumored militaristic purposes.

Structure

The city-state employs a direct democracy form of government. Though they are by no means the largest city-state in population, their respectable citizenry is enough to make a direct democracy voting system impossible. This is not so for the inventive gnomes. They use magic, sending, to create voting chips that are given to every citizen, Chosen Gnomes, to allow them to vote on all things. For very important votes sortition is used to select from the citizenry random representatives to come in and hear arguments and cast a vote on what should be done. The Dullmar Gnomes have no voting rights in the Dunes.

Culture

The culture of the Dunes is one born out of scarcity. When the gnomes found themselves in the most resource bare territory they called upon their Faemar heritage, whether they realized it or not. Tapping into that deeply seeded need for innovation the gnomes were able to thrive through the use of magic and science to get the most out of what they have.

A Sirdull citizen is judged by their accomplishments above all else and due to the constant innovation over the ages the half-life of those accomplishments is short. It is not uncommon for a gnome of The Dunes to somehow incorporate those accomplishments into their names. For instance, the creator of the voting chips was known as Zilfan the chip-crafter. Gnomes are also known to incorporate their name into their inventions.

Public Agenda

The Sirdullians look to embed themselves in the hierarchy of the empire through their inventions and make them so crucial to everyday life that they cannot be removed. Once they have got the most out of inventions that they can for their city-state they sell the technology to others for wealth and that increasing dependency.

Demography and Population

The population of Sirdull is spread between two cities Sirdull and Eastport. The total population of 60,000 is primarily in Sirdull, 50,000, while the rest live in Eastport. The population is almost entirely gnomish. There are also fewer Gnomish Dullmar than any other race.

Territories

The entire dunes of the east are the territory of the city-state but mostly empty outside the two main cities.

Military

Though their military might is not often employed all city-states are cautious of what new military technology might be unleashed each time The Dunes send out their military.

Military innovation is the one type that rarely is shared outside the city-state.

No phrase brings more wonder and fear than "The Gnomes have arrived" uttered on the field of battle.

Technological Level

The Dunes have the technological might over all other city-states and are steadfast in their defense of that position.

Each decade usually beckons a new technology from the gnomes that changes everyday life and the status quo for Adulla
