Stoneheart Kingdom
Stoneheart Hold is a legendary dwarven kingdom nestled deep within the towering, iron-veined mountains of the north—its walls carved from the unyielding blackstone that gives the Hold its name. It is a bastion of craftsmanship, endurance, and unbreakable will, founded on the principles of strength, honor, and legacy.
The Hold is best known as the seat of the famed King Dunmar Frostheart, a storied warrior-king who once led a crusade against the dread Fire Dragon, Vrakorath the Infernal. In both architecture and spirit, Stoneheart Hold is a monument to resistance against overwhelming odds.
Culture
Stoneheart Dwarves value stoicism, loyalty, and martial strength, yet are equally devoted to craft and lore. They believe the strength of a kingdom lies in both its steel and its stories. Dwarves of the Hold are known for crafting frost-tempered armor, lava-resistant plate, and weapons enchanted to resist or harness elemental forces.
The kingdom reveres a pantheon of Ancestor Spirits, each associated with a domain of stone, fire, frost, or forge. Festivals such as the Day of the Emberfall commemorate the battle against Vrakorath and other historic turning points.
History
Stoneheart Hold’s renown was cemented when King Dunmar Frostheart rallied an alliance of dwarves, humans, and frost creatures to face Vrakorath the Infernal. Knowing that ordinary weapons would not suffice, the dwarves forged the Elderforge, a divine hammer capable of sundering dragonscale, in the heart of the Frozen Forge beneath the Hold.
Even after Vrakorath’s fall, Stoneheart Hold has remained a symbol of resistance, a bulwark where ice stood firm against fire, and a place where history is not just remembered—but lived.
Military
The Hold boasts some of the finest smiths and warriors in the world. Its army, known as the Stoneguard, is equipped with frostforged weaponry, flame-resistant armor, and shield tactics designed to face even dragons. Elite units like the Anvilborn and the Frostshield Sentinels are held in awe across dwarven and human lands alike.
