Stoneheart Hold
Stoneheart Hold is a legendary dwarven kingdom nestled deep within the towering, iron-veined mountains of the north—its walls carved from the unyielding blackstone that gives the Hold its name. It is a bastion of craftsmanship, endurance, and unbreakable will, founded on the principles of strength, honor, and legacy.
The Hold is best known as the seat of the famed King Dunmar Frostheart, a storied warrior-king who once led a crusade against the dread Fire Dragon, Vrakorath the Infernal. In both architecture and spirit, Stoneheart Hold is a monument to resistance against overwhelming odds.
Architecture
The Hold is a masterpiece of dwarven engineering—multi-tiered halls built into the mountain’s heart, with massive vault doors, lava-fed forges, and echoing halls adorned with reliefs of great dwarven deeds. Its main citadel, Thronemar Hall, houses the Stoneheart Throne, carved from a single block of obsidian and etched with froststeel veins, said to be impossible to move or destroy.
- The Anvil Spire – A towering forge-chamber where weapons of war and relics of legend are hammered into existence.
- The Hall of Heroes – A vast chamber of statues and preserved arms honoring dwarven champions and kings.
- The Embergate – The southernmost gate, reinforced with elemental enchantments to withstand heat and fire, facing the lands once ravaged by Vrakorath.
History
Stoneheart Hold’s renown was cemented when King Dunmar Frostheart rallied an alliance of dwarves, humans, and frost creatures to face Vrakorath the Infernal. Knowing that ordinary weapons would not suffice, the dwarves forged the Elderforge, a divine hammer capable of sundering dragonscale, in the heart of the Frozen Forge beneath the Hold.
Even after Vrakorath’s fall, Stoneheart Hold has remained a symbol of resistance, a bulwark where ice stood firm against fire, and a place where history is not just remembered—but lived.
